Sure thing Vasto. You can have your Scarlett as soon as you finish your Koolade.
Regardless of whether it really is offloading some processing to a server or not, people have got to admit the buildings and pieces that are breaking away are so simple it's not a stretch to believe the game console could handle this locally. It's not that impressive when the falling pieces look like Tetris blocks. But hey, if it serves as a proof of concept that you can do it, fine. Still not confirmation that all the hype MS spread about the cloud was real...quite the contrary
They just bought two more studios....
Why continue to rip on Xbox? What do we expect them to do, lay down quietly and go away? Xbox is planning on the future and starting to make some good progress, so give them a break. Phil is at his own event talking about the future of the platform, nothing wrong with that right?
They would always have to trail their releases by at least a year after Sony's, not just a few months, because it takes time to incorporate hardware changes and for the cost to start coming down to prevent them from being too expensive. They *could* keep that commitment, but I'm not sure it's a great strategy. Seems like always letting your competition lead with innovation and get a year headstart on you isn't something that intuitively sounds good, but I can see how you coul...
@septic, I agree - of course MS still intends to compete with Sony. The journalist makes the same mistake that lots of us on these discussion boards make - just because you're not the leader doesn't mean you're not making money and competing all the time. Of course MS won't overthrow Sony in 1 year, but they're taking steps to get better, and that's what counts. The PC play is complex to judge, as their are a lot of dynamics there, but given their current lineup of exc...
Agreed. MS is being very generous with the games!
Nice to see them put their money where their mouth is. I'm starting to see a future where I might come back to Xbox.
Illinois has been on the verge of bankruptcy. They're desperate. I'll leave out the politics, since we fight enough around here 😊
As you progress you unlock Old Spice commercials...
@LoveSpuds @BLow nice to see rational thought so well articulated
It's like a sporting event... Two rivals going at it with each other for years. Fans develop, fans was t their team to win. We don't call football fans leather fan boys. I admit it's kinda weird, but hey not everyone is like you, so keep an open mind. Plus, some people don't like / like the way one of the competitors does business and enjoy seeing results that support their values. Kinda natural if you think about it.

Yes, they should be ashamed for compiling a list of games they consider to be classics. How dare they?
"for not allow"? PS4 is a different architecture than PS3. They'd have to port it to PS4 add trophies etc. It takes some work (even with an emulator) it's not just "allowing" it, right?
Maybe with multiple sensors that are wireless or just plug into AC. Whatever it is, it's got to be simpler with less wires. I highly doubt they'll stick with visible light for tracking.
Er, no.
If Valve gets that Wine fork to create a Linux based Steam Machine that runs the Windows games, and pulls in all the a-hole publishers that won't publish to Steam, then thar SteamBox idea is a possibility. Until then PC won't appeal to casual non-techie types, and without them they can't "crack" the console market
I've been wondering how meaningful a year's headstart is, because I feel like with Sony's Pro coming out a year before the X, and being a lower priced entry, it's kinda set up for the PS5 to have a year head start on the next Xbox. I mean, we could conceivably see a PS5 in 2020, but I feel like that would be VERY unlikely with the Xbox given the X's existing power and price point. I can't imagine either of them like this leapfrogging rat race, but it certainly benefits...
Well hang in there... Maybe you'll get a PS4 for your 4th birthday 😉
I believe that some calculations are being performed on the server vs. the Xbox. But the bar MS has set where "any game developer can assume that there's roughly three times the resources immediately available to their game" is not what I'm seeing in these videos. The promise isn't just that you can do mathematical calculations on a server and pass the results back, but that it reflects in a dramatic way in your game.
