X1X released a full year after PS4pro btw, not 5 months. I like your predictions. Also like that MS has been sticking to the classic formula of hype people up and knock em down with a big surprise. I love it when the give us something we didn't already expect...
I liked it a lot but not having a Pro version and not Pro enhancing the VR version was disappointing. Then GT Sport not having full VR support was another kick in the pants. At least we have Dirt Rally VR which is great but I feel like the driving genre is on of the biggest areas of improvement for Sony going forward, at least for VR
@traumadisaster, you have obviously severed your connection with the Hive Mind. Assimilation Assistants have been dispatched to your location. Please stand by.
I don't know if a firmware update can help mitigate this but my kids have gone through a lot of joycons because they start drifting after time. Even after recalibrating.
Me too. I'm still mourning ToysRUs
Digital will kill physical games before that happens is my guess. Without games there's not enough to justify standalone stores.
Hmm... Maybe they'll change their minds over time or have a longer term plan around it. Really talented people spending a lot of time and energy on something won't want to give it away for free. And us gamers are willing to pay a little for a quality game / story. I'm thinking in the $1-$5 range is reasonable. I think roblocks and Minecraft worlds are free to play, but looks like someone could create a game way more intriguing with Dreams. We'll see. First it has to take off, ...
Right. And by the time it hits Steam, I don't think they'll be able to pull off full price.
Epic Fail. Nice.
Yeah, that's crazy. Either defend your people's decision or make it right.
As long as it takes off, I think they'll be working on Dreams for a bit. All that investment means they're willing to play the long game. Care and feeding around content, the marketplace, updating tools, and enhancements for the PS5. If they could build interpreters that ran Dream games on other platforms that would be amazing too and would make Dreams even more attractive to indies...
Just dawned on me that MM could create a market place for indies WITHIN Dreams, so people pay the developers for some of the more impressive creations. Rapid build and deploy, no bureaucracy. Imagine all the creatives that could become indie developers without needing hardcore programming skills. This could be amazing.
Those are compromises. I want the functionality steam provides. One download manager that waits until I'm not playing a game to install updates. If I do choose to dl while playing, cap the rate. I also want one friends list one set of achievements, etc. If Epic wants to compete with that I support competition but not some half assed lackluster attempt like what the Epic store is...
I'm interested too, but I agree with Rainslacker... PSNow was on a path to push to every device under the sun. They started, got it on some devices, and suddenly stopped and dialed it back. PS Now is still very alive...bigger than GamePass. But only on the PS4 and PC. My guess is that with current network technology for it to be good, it's got to be wired. To be wired you need a box. If you're willing to buy a box it might as well be a console.
I agree with you rainslacker, but for the time being journalism is dead. When we paid for our newspapers and magazines there was at least hope that the money would be able to fund done competent journalists and editors. Now we get it for free and the only people left paying are advertisers. With native advertising its only getting worse.
I'd love to see their take on VR. They're so creative and the simple graphics they typically use would lend itself well to machines with a little less horsepower. That's a lot further beyond just a 3d display though...
Nobody is perfect. It's not like "jocks" are known for being kind anti-violent monks that treat members of the opposite sex with respect...
Sony is the WORST! They took all my money by tricking me with great games, made my electricity bill really high, and reduced my interest in the real world by forcing me to buy VR!
Another peeve I have with multiple stores is that they all want to load at boot and don't coordinate updates. So here I am pushing my rig as far as I can playing a game and Epic decides to install another Fortnite patch. Steam will install when you're not playing unless you choose to override. People can complain but compare the features, it's the best the PC has right now ..
Lots of good VR games heavily discounted
