And working with their sales / acct mgmt teams for enterprise apps is a nightmare.
I just finished it. I'm afraid to comment because I'll probably fit the stereotype too well lol
I'm getting there...jeez, give me some time lol
It doesn't help that there aren't as many Xbox gamers either
That one is on PS Extra atm
@notorious that's where the mixed messages are coming in. Sometimes it sounds like everything is third party (every screen is an Xbox, clues that the next Xbox will be a PC), and sometimes they act like it's business as usual (Matt saying there will still be exclusives and these Xbox shows still not marketing to PS players).
I'd say they're in some middle ground where they want to have the cake and eat it too. I'd bet that the current momentum will drive then to g...
For starters, it's not clear if we're talking about Xbox as the console or Xbox as a game publisher "hitting their stride".
Mixed messages as to how exclusive any of the future titles will be to Xbox.
Secondly, just on the game front, MS has had a consistent history of producing stinkers under their watch. Granted they've bought all these studios but statistically speaking unless they've changed dramatically, the quality will probably decrease over...
I'm glad they're innovating and trying something new.
Might be one of those things that we'll get used to and every FPS will emulate.
The author speculates that this will increase the skill gap. I think it's too early to tell.
@bunt - i haven't tried the Praydog mods as I don't have PCVR anymore, but am encouraged by what you're saying. I imagine PS might have some hurdles to apply such a thing to 3rd party games w/out their permission, but it would be encouraging for them to at least do it to some of their 1st party games. I'd probably play the Uncharted games again if I could do it in VR, even 3rd person w/ a controller...
I guess the fact that it's not mainstream doesn't take away from it being pretty awesome for the people that do enjoy it.
Re: preference on games, I'll say one thing, I can't go back to driving or flying games that aren't in VR at this point - it just feels wrong not to be able to turn your head.
I am disappointed with Sony not supporting with 1st party.
However, there are good games and I have yet to play them all.
Another perspective is that Sony at least put out this pretty awesome hardware despite the risk that it wouldn't sell a lot, giving PS owners an actually really good experience that we otherwise wouldn't have.
Devil's advocate here, but they still have a formidable presence in the US. I agree with the likelihood that many are stating about Xbox being done, but they're not dead yet.
There are so many different scenarios to model to figure out what the net impact will be. Without the details that only MS has access to, it's impossible to know the net impact of this. Intuitively I want to say they need to raise the price of GamePass but I'm not sure even about that.
So far it's a pretty light trend. All the heavy hitters are still coming to Xbox so the sky isn't falling quite yet
If Xbox really does bow out of hardware, I wouldn't be surprised if PS gets more aggressive with keeping games off of PC, reversing direction, trying to bring more ppl to PS. That'll be their next opportunity for growth I think
Actually incorrect. A big survey just posted results. Older people are more likely to be playing mobile games. The youngest generation are the biggest consumers of consoles. Mobile is still a force of course, but consoles are being used more now than ever.
I don't think you understand the gaming business. Sony would be a fraction of it's size if all it did was sell games. The exclusive games are and always have been to keep customers glued to their PS platform. Putting then on Xbox is missing the point. They need their 30% and the monthly PS Essentials to stay in the game.
Only reason Xbox is shifting strategy is because they're losing more and more each year on the platform side.
They already are. Look at console sales.
And once you have hardware with Epic and Steam on it, that's a PC, not a console. You think Xbox is stronger than ever? Dude... You've gotta be trolling
Firstly PS won't go PC day one exclusives because it needs to keep the platform alive. Putting a game on Steam doesn't help the platform.
Secondly, you don't need a physical console to have a platform technically. The biggest issue with streaming is the lesson that PS learned long ago and MS will learn eventually: it sucks and most of us don't want it
