A new update for The Finals was released on May 29, leaving players puzzled. While some of the changes are great, players agree that most of them were questionable if not entirely unnecessary.
Fans Confused by the New Update
A Redditor, NovapreemBoga, listed everything they disliked: “You get wallhacks if you damage someone. The glitch where you couldn’t pick up dropped barrels is back. Removal of “equip weapon” mapping option (personally the change I hate the most). Can’t track contracts”.
Another player, deadream3r, added: “I am experiencing more lag and stutters, sometimes not being able to pick up statues and glitchy menu when trying to change the contestant in powershift”. They aren’t the only one with the same problem. A fan, falbi23, testified: “Lag has been gnarly”. Others, like kush_wolverine, confirmed: “Ps5 player here, after update losing half of my kills to getting frozen in place for 2 secs. Here’s to hope there’s a hotfix real soon”.
Another huge point of contention was the audio. Dark-Familiarity noticed: “Anyone else feel the footstep audio is worse”. TheSzczurson explained just how annoying it was. They said: “Yes. I realized I heard my teammates’ footsteps like they were next to me while in reality, they were much further. Very unnatural and unrealistic”.
Many insisted that this update was absolutely wild. A Redditor, arazizi, elaborated on that claim. They listed: “Aim assist through walls. performance drop and stutters. The burst weapon turned fully auto-exploit. community pink shoes are still not available. Goo gun and gateway spam on APS destroy it within a second or two. Emote canceling sword is still in the game. Throwing knives broken up now”.
Not Everything is Wrong with The Finals
Don’t worry, it isn’t all bad news. This update gave The Finals fans some goodies. Arrensen raved: “Nice XP Boost for everyone trying to finish their BP. 45k extra XP per day just for the 5 dailies”. You can’t make everyone happy. Some players took the news personally. ErikErikJevfelErik complained: “Kinda them spitting in my face for actually grinding it out. Just tells me that I should play less next season and just hop on in the last two weeks for a ridiculous amount of XP. Absolute joke lol”.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a game update if it didn’t contain some nerfs. This time, APS Turret drew the short straw. While beginners rejoiced, some more experienced players weren’t as hyped. One of the players, brother_spirit, joked: “Things you will never see again in your lifetime: affordable housing and an APS Turret”.
With Season 2 slowly coming to an end, the hype for Season 3 is getting bigger every day. Hang in there, collect all the extra XP possible, and hope for some bug fixes over the next couple of days. Maybe even freshen up on your lore knowledge, new twists are arriving very soon.
