Season 3 of The Finals debuted a new ranked mode called Terminal Attack. After the chaos around the launch settled down, players started exploring the game and something was… off with the ranked mode. Even though the previous ranked mode, Cashout, received plenty of bad reviews, players are now asking for its return.
The New Ranked Mode Causes Chaos in The Finals Community
A player, st0n1e, wrote a plea to Embark. It stated: “We honestly tried Terminal Attack but it’s not nearly as fun for me and my friends as Cashout. Please give us the new TA ranked system on top of World Tour and also keep TA ranked for the TA lovers”. They explained that a ranked mode should be an integral part of every PvP game, but unfortunately, Terminal Attack wasn’t good enough.
A lot of players agreed. A Redditor, venomtail, added: “In the current form, TA is too drastic of a detour from what The Finals established itself as, a fast-paced, movement-based game where taking risks is encouraged because there a 2nd, even a 3rd chance of winning even if you fail”.
Lots of players agree that the change in the pace made Terminal Attack boring. Alarming_Rough_8906 explained: “This game mode literally contradicts the trailer for the game, fast-paced destruction and people doing crazy movements. In Terminal Attack it’s none of that, you just have people sitting in corners with 3 turrets on the objective and 6 mines all over the room. The rounds are the same every time”.
STAYlN_ALlVE shared: “They switched up the one thing keeping this game unique from other FPS games. If I wanted to play a bomb mode I’d play something established like Siege or CSGO that has maps designed around a search-and-destroy mode. It just doesn’t flow in this game, especially in the ranked mode. We gave it a shot, Oscar told us to try it out and tell them what we think. We think it’s garbage”. This player also made an important note reminding the players not to take out their frustrations on the devs or the rest of the player base.
The Finals Developers Under Fire Over Cashout Removal
While there aren’t many players who actually enjoyed playing Terminal Attack, there were some who defended Embark for trying something new. One of them, supercooper3000, stated: “It’s one season and it’s for the long-term health of the game to attract new players and make long-lasting big changes to ranked Cashout”.
MrVetter agreed: “The only flaw I see here is in the Embark’s communication. Saying this will be ranked for a season while they improve Cashout ranked, which otherwise wouldn’t be as possible and should be much more visible and not hidden behind some Discord messages”.
In our experience, Terminal Attack is a bit slower-paced. We completely understand the frustration over it. We also believe that this is just temporarily the only ranked mode. If you aren’t trying to get Diamond and Ruby weapons, you can always switch to another mode. When TA is too frustrating, switch to World Tour. Hopefully, The Finals developers will decide to add another ranked mode aside from Terminal Attack and bring back Cashout.
