Star Citizen is a sci-fi fan’s dream game, and I have been looking forward to this title since it was first announced. Being a space pilot and exploring a vast and unknown world calls to me, and Star Citizen offers just that. However, there are some steps to becoming a pilot, like getting your ship and leaving the hangar.
Exiting the hangar in Star Citizen isn’t as easy as it sounds. I admit it took me a moment to solve this puzzle, but once I did, I shot out into space and began my space pilot career. Check out how to escape the hanger in Star Citizen with these easy steps below!

How To Exit the Hangar in Star Citizen
To exit the hangar, you must first summon your ship and retrieve it from the vehicle terminal. This has a list of your ships, so choose the one you wish to leave in. Without a ship, you won’t be able to leave the hangar, unless you plan to do so in a frozen body bag. To open the hangar doors, follow the steps below, which may vary depending on the game’s mechanics and controls.
- Press F11.
- Select the Friends Tab.
- Click the arrow under Area 18 Landing Services.
- Wait for the hangar gates to open.
- Leave.
The hanger is located on Riker Memorial Spaceport, off to the side of the three main zones in Area 18. A tram system can you here from the commercial port. The hanger is a beautiful place, especially with the right graphical settings, and I spent a good deal of time standing there. However, when it came time to leave, I followed the steps above to get out. Feel free to take your time in the hangar and enjoy the ambiance until you are ready to leave and make sure you have enough fuel before heading out.
