Scanning plays an important role for any space pilot. This tool can only be initiated while piloting your spaceship, so make your way to the cockpit before attempting this. - Be the pilot in your spaceship.
- Press the V key.
- Hold down the left mouse button and point toward objects you wish to scan.
You can scan numerous objects, including moons, ship systems, planets, ores, mineable asteroids, and more. Scanning helps you identify good resources and places to salvage. One thing to note is that you cannot scan while using quantum travel.
