Mortal Kombat 1 is now available to play across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, opening the gates to a new universe filled with familiar characters. That said, the NetherRealm Studios has introduced some fresh and exciting content, like Kameo characters. In light of this, you can now master both main characters and Kameo fighters. Doing so will allow you to move through the ranks and level up your characters. Not to mention, you’ll earn some pretty handy rewards in the process. Here’s how you can level up each character in Mortal Kombat 1.
- A New Universe – Discover a new beginning, as crafted by the Keeper of Time and protector of Earthrealm, Fire God Liu Kang.
- Origins Reimagined – Familiar characters return with all new intertwined histories, interacting in brand new ways.
- New Kameo Fighters – Choose from a unique roster of Kameo fighting partners to assist you in battle.
- Immersive Story Campaign – Fight through a brand new story featuring your favorite Mortal Kombat characters like you’ve never seen them before.
- The Ultimate Fighting Franchise Returns – The Fight for Earthrealm is upon us. This is Mortal Kombat.
How to Level Up Characters in Mortal Kombat 1
In Mortal Kombat 1, every character is subject to a leveling system, referred to as their Master Rank. Moving up will earn you a variety of perks, capped at Rank 35. There are several routes you can take to level up your characters. However, each essentially boils down to playing through the game’s many modes, including Invasion Mode, Online Matchmaking, Story Mode, and Towers of Time.
To be clear, gaining EXP for specific characters will require you to play as them. Winning online matches by performing finishers, like Fatalities and Brutalities, will help you earn the most experience following encounters. Getting a Flawless Victory will net your even more EXP for your character, doubly so with the help of Relics.
However, we wouldn’t recommend relying on this method alone to level up. Since there’s no guarantee that you’ll best your opponent, playing online can prove somewhat unreliable as a means to gain EXP in the long run. Because of this, blending gameplay throughout different game modes is the best way to increase your rank fast.
