This Fan-made Concept Could Revitalize Helldivers 2 Missions

The Evacuate High Value Assets mission, in which you defend a strongpoint, proved to be extremely fun. One Helldivers 2 player thought of a reverse mission, where you assault an enemy base, and the community loves the new idea.

Missions in Helldivers 2 usually revolve around getting to a certain point, dealing with the objective, rinse and repeat. Some do break the mold, like the small defense-type missions, but, frankly, it gets a little stale. Recently, on the Terminid front, the devs introduced an improved version of a defense mission, where you defend a fort-like structure. It proved to be a huge success, evoking the movie-like feeling where a small group has to defend a point against countless waves of enemies.

A Good Idea for a New Type of Misson

A certain Redditor, named ThePengu, shared the idea of an assault-type mission. It even has maps, possible Stratagem uses, and everything. In short, those missions will turn Helldivers into a strike team, trying to capture an enemy base. It even uses the Super Earth Flag Stratagem as a way to “capture points”.

The idea is that Helldivers move through several well-defended points (fabricators in the case of Automatons, nests in the case of Terminids), break through defensive gates, and finally destroy the whole structure from the inside. And, of course, the enemies have limitless reinforcements. Some fans may notice that this sounds a lot like the popular Siege missions, from Ubisoft’s For Honor. Even in theory, this sounds fantastic, and the community agrees.

Helldivers 2 Community Thinks it’s Time We Get Some Assault Missions

Everyone is thrilled with the idea, with QWeRTVIII hoping that the devs will look into this: “Arrowhead, Joel, this right here is peak content.” Others chimed in with their ideas, stating that some variety would be great, with 20milliondollarapi stating: “Having certain permutations would be good. Have like 3-4 doors to assault and 6+ versions of each. That would give quite a few options and make it always feel fresh.”

Others, inspired by the idea, said that adding some NPC soldiers would be cool. This would make larger assault missions possible, with Helldivers being a special, behind-enemy-lines unit, tasked with destroying key objectives

All these ideas sound amazing. Moreover, in the last poll offered on the official Heldivers 2 Discord, the majority of players asked for new mission types. But, we should be aware that creating a whole new mission is not that easy and it takes time. Especially when combined with designing new content, Warbonds, and fixing errors, the devs already have their hands full. But, we do hope we get something at least similar to the great idea shared by the OP.
