Aiming down sights is crucial for placing those accurate shots. This article explains how to switch to the first person view in Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2 is a shooter, and naturally, accuracy can be critical to your success. If you are using short-range weapons that do not need to be accurate as much, such as shotguns or flamethrowers, aiming down sights is not really necessary. But, in case you are using weapons with a scope, and there are a lot of Primary and Support Weapons that have one (even the ubiquitous Liberator), switching to first-person view is crucial for those long-distance shots. Or if you want to place some headshots. So, let’s see how to switch to the first person view in Helldivers 2.

Helldivers 2: How to Switch to First-Person View

Switching to first person view is incredibly easy, you just have to use the right controls. To switch to first-person, first hold down your Aim button (right-click for PC, L2 for PS5 users). Then tap the Switch Aim Mode button, which is the Middle Mouse Button for PC and the Right-Stick Button for PlayStation users, by default. Doing so will switch your aim mode to “down-the-sights”, using the scope if the weapon has one.

Why Should You Switch to First Person View

Switching to first person view is how you can zoom in using your weapon’s scope. Some weapons, like the Anti-Materiel Rifle (and Heavy Machine Gun, for some reason), do not even have the regular aiming reticule and rely on using the scope.

Aiming down sights is crucial for shooting the heads off those pesky Automatons. A lot of weapons have special sights for aiming, even though they are not scoped, which is great if you want to shoot those Automaton cannon towers from far away.

Note that some weapons have different zooming modes. To access them, hold the Reload button (Square on PS5, R on PC) and that will open the weapon options wheel. There you can set the different zoom levels if the weapon has any.  To switch back to regular aiming, simply press the Switch Aim Mode button again.
