Are you also having issues when trying to add new friends? Here’s how to fix the Friend Request not working issue in Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2 is a squad-based game, which means it is best played with friends. Of course, you can fly solo, but those hordes of bugs and evil space robots are better dealt with in a group. But, unfortunately, adding friends in Helldivers 2 is not working as intended. Some players report issues, mostly when trying to add friends from different platforms. So, on that note, read on to see how to fix Frend Request not working in Helldivers 2.
Helldivers 2: How to Fix Friend Request Not Working
As already mentioned, some players have trouble when trying to add friends in Helldivers 2, most often if crossplay is involved. So, we have scoured the community and found these workarounds, until the devs officially fix this problem.
Restart Helldivers 2
The classic solution. Quit your game, give it a minute to settle down, and boot it again. Now try sending those Friend Requests again.
Turn Crossplay Off and On
As the main issue is related to Crossplay, restarting it may fix the problem. From the game’s main menu navigate to the Options tab, and there, the second from the top, is the Crossplay option. Turn it Off, give it a couple of minutes, and turn it back On again.
Resend the Friend Request
The simplest solution here, but it may work. Cancel your Request and try sending it again. Repeat a couple of times if needed.
Manually Join the Game
This solution is the most complex but at least you get to play with your friends. Note that this workaround requires you to have another method of communication, apart from the game itself. So, if you and your friends want to play a game but are unable to add each other as friends, here’s what you can do.
First, make sure that your Matchmaking Privacy is set to Public. Then, find a planet without much player activity, ie, the lowest number of active Helldivers. Pick any mission there to create a lobby. Communicate to your friends on which planet you are and what mission is selected, so they can find you. You may have to kick other players out of the game if they fill up your squad before your friends arrive. Once you’re all together, you can switch the Matchmaking Privacy to Friends Only, to prevent “randoms” from joining your game, if you don’t want them to.
Moreover, after this game, your friends will be on your Recent Players list, and you can try sending them the Request that way.
Helldives 2 Developers Fixing the Friend Request Not Working Issue
Thankfully, Arrowhead is aware of this problem. It is on their “Known Issues” list, on the latest Patch Notes. If none of the above solutions worked for you, we recommend waiting it out until the devs fix it. Remember to write down the username of the player you want to send the Request to, if you worry that you’ll forget it by the time this issue is resolved.
