Helmets are one of the main cosmetic items in Helldivers 2, so read this article to see the list of all the helmets currently in the game, and how you can get them.
Most of your equipment in Helldivers 2 serves an in-game purpose. You need your weapons to spread Democracy and your Armor is there to protect you from enemy attacks. But, some items are there purely as cosmetics, ie, they offer no in-game benefits, they just look cool. Helmets are one of those purely cosmetic items that you can select before a mission, to complement your badass Armor. So, let’s see how to unlock and equip Helmets and the full list and pricing of all Helmets in Helldivers 2.
How to Unlock and Equip Helmets in Helldivers 2
You start the game with a couple of Helmets already available to you, but the rest have to be unlocked via Warbonds, or purchased in the Super Store with Super Credits. In short, each Armor comes with an accompanying Helmet (to complete a “set”), but you can select whatever Helmet you have unlocked with any Armor you are wearing, as Helmets offer no in-game benefits. You can mix and match Helmets with Armor to create your own style.
To equip a Helmet, you can either do it from your Armory while on the bridge of your ship, or you can select it during the Loadout phase, before the mission starts.
Do Helmets Offer an In-Game Bonus?
No, a Helmet is a purely cosmetic item in Helldivers 2.
The devs revealed that the initial plan for Helmets was that they offer you different HUDs (displays), based on the associated Armor Perk. For example, a Scout Helmet would give you radar and ping enemies, while a Med-Kit Helmet would display your squad’s health bars, injuries, and the like. This feature would be beyond awesome, but unfortunately, it was too much work, so the idea was left behind.
Players claimed that some Helmets were bugged and gave you “hidden” benefits (like even more movement speed), but as far as we know, those “bugs” have been fixed now.
