If you are wondering how to get some Driftwood in Hades 2, we are here to help. Read on to see how to get it and what it is used for.
Hades 2 is the sequel to the original Hades game from 2018. Currently still in Early Access, but still boasts a lot of content. You play as Melinoe, the sister of the first game’s protagonist, daughter of Hades, and Princess of the Underworld. You have a lot of different materials to collect, even more than in the prequel, and you use them for various upgrades, magical Incantations, Arcana cards, and more. There are two “main” paths in Hades 2: the Underworld and the surface world, each with its own perils and available materials. You’ll have to explore both of them in order to defeat Chronos. One material that you’ll encounter is Driftwood, so read on to see how to get it and what is it used for in Hades 2.
How to Get Driftwood in Hades 2
Driftwood is located in the Rift of Thessaly, the second “area” of the surface. Thankfully, you do not need to bring any special tools to gather it. Like Moly or Moss, you can simply gather Driftwood “by hand”.
The chance for the Driftwood to appear is random. So while on those ships in the Rift, look for light brown branches. If you have performed the Reagent Sensing Incantation, you will be notified if there are any materials to be gathered, once the Encounter is cleared.
How to Get to Rift of Thessaly
To get to the Rift of Thessaly, you first have to perform the Permeation of Witching-Wards (to unlock the surface) and then Unraveling a Fateful Bond (to remove the surface world health-draining curse) Incantations.
Once up there, you have to clear the first area – the City of Ephyra. When it is cleared, you’ll face Polyphemus, the Cyclops. Once you defeat him, the way to the Rift of Thessaly will be open to you.
How to Use Driftwood
For now, you need Driftwood for only a couple of upgrades in Hades 2. You need some to perform:
- Rush of Fresh Air – 3 x Fate Fabric, 2x Driftwood, 1x Wool
- Rite of River-Fording – 2x Cattail, 4x Driftwood
- Sandy Lifespring – 3x Iron, 3x Driftwood
Additionally, you need some Driftwood in order to unlock the Aspect of Eos for your Umbral Flames (2x Driftwood and 2x Golden Apple)
No doubt that more uses for Driftwood will be added down the line.
