Have you come across this status message on your Friend list? Let’s see what does “Extended Away” mean in Fortnite.

Fortnite is one of the most popular multiplayer games of this time. Known for its simple yet fun gameplay and the sheer amount of cosmetics, skins, and dances. It boasts millions of active payers. Speaking of players, the game is always better if played with friends. They can join you in the Battle Royale shootout or you can all be band members in Fortnite Festival. And there is nothing worse when you are gearing up for some Fortnite and none of your friends are actually online. To add insult to injury, they may be online but have the “Extended Away” status and not answer your invites. Weird. Read on to see what does “Extended Away” status mean in Fortnite.

What Does “Extended Away” Mean in Fortnite?

If you see the “Extended Away” status under your friend’s name, that means they haven’t touched the controls in a while. The game is running, but they haven’t done anything. For example, they launched Fortnite and went out, leaving the game running. Or they fell asleep. Basically, they’re online, but most probably will not respond. So, if you are looking for someone to game with, it’s best that you treat anyone with “Extended Away” status as unavailable.

How to Open the Friends List and See Who Is Online?

Navigating to your friend list is quite simple. From Fortnite’s lobby, look for the main menu button, on the top-left corner of the screen. This will open the Social/Friends tab. You will see all your friends listed here, and their statuses, whether they are Online, Offline, Away, Extended Away, or something else.
