Are you unable to hear anything while doing licensed Emotes? Read on to see how to fix Emotes not playing audio in Fortnite.

Fortnite has thousands and thousands of Emotes, and that number keeps increasing. These can be the ever-popular Fortnite dances or just regular Emotes, like greetings, waving, etc. Emotes can also be categorized into several types: Standard, Traversal (involving movement), Built-In (part of an Outfit), and Two-Player (another player can join in, for a unique effect). Sometimes, these Emotes have a sound effect as a part of it, like playing music when you do an air guitar. So, what to do if you are doing a musical Emote and it won’t play any sound? Let’s see how to fix Emotes not playing audio in Fortnite.

How to Fix Emotes Not Playing Audio in Fortnite?

Thankfully, there is an official solution to this. Epic Games said to try and do the following:

  • Open Fortnite and click on Battle Royale.
  • Click on the menu icon in the top right corner and then click on “Settings”.
  • Go to the “Audio” section.
  • Scroll down and you will see “Licensed Audio”. Set this to “Play”.

This should resolve the issue. If the problem persists, but all other sounds work fine, try restarting Fortnite altogether. If nothing changes, your best bet is to contact Epic Games Support and tell them about the issue you are having.

Why Aren’t My Emotes Playing Audio?

Epic Games added the option for Creators to mute licensed music. Having licensed music without permission on their videos and channels can lead to some trouble, so the developers added this option to keep their Creators and YouTubers safe.
