How to Download Fortnite on PC
It’s relatively straightforward to get and play Fortnite on PC, but the process is a bit lengthy. Just open your web browser to get started, then follow these steps to get the job done.
- Go to the Epic Games website and log into your account. If you haven’t signed up, then create an account.
- Navigate to the Fortnite landing page from the Epic Games website.
- Look for Epic Games Launcher (PC).
- Hit Download.
- Once the Epic Games Launcher is finished loading, open and click Install.
- You’ll be asked if you’d like to allow the file to make changes to your computer. Click Yes.
- The installation process will continue.
- When the launcher is finished loading, you’ll be asked to sign into your Epic Games account. Login with your information.
- From the Epic Games Launcher, enter Fortnite in the search bar.
- Click on the game and download for free.
- When complete, Fortnite will appear in your Library for you to access and play.
How to Download Fortnite on PlayStation (PS4 & PS5)
Fortnite is available for download on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The process remains pretty much the same for both generations, and you don’t need a PlayStation Plus subscription to get the game since it’s free-to-play. However, you will need to make sure you’re logged into your PlayStation Network and Epic Games accounts, then follow these steps to download Fortnite.
- Go to the PlayStation Store and search for Fortnite.
- If you’re navigating the store on PC, you may need to select which generation console you’ll be playing on.
- Click on the game and hit Download.
- If you haven’t yet done so, you may be asked to link your Epic Games account.
- Let the download complete, then get to playing.
How to Download Fortnite on Xbox (Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S)
Downloading Fortnite is simple on Xbox consoles, but you’ll need an Xbox Live account if you want to play the game online. Since playing requires an internet connection, there’s really no way around this first step. Moreover, you’ll need to log into your account with Epic Games to get the game on Xbox. - Go to the Nintendo eShop on your Switch or from your PC and search for Fortnite.
- Select the game and hit Download.
- Fortnite will appear in your library as it installs.

How to Download Fortnite on Mobile (iOS, Android, and Samsung)
Because Epic Games maintains a rocky relationship with Apple, the process of downloading Fortnite differs depending on whether you’re playing on iOS or another mobile device like Android or Samsung. We’ve laid out the steps for each so you don’t have to make guesses.
iOS
- If you have previously downloaded Fortnite on iOS, you may then go to the iOS app store and find Fortnite under the Purchased tab of your profile. From there, you can install Fortnite on your iPhone or iPad.
- If you haven’t downloaded Fortnite on iOS in the past, you will need an Xbox Cloud Gaming account to get the game.
- From the service, search for Fortnite.
- Click the game and hit Play.
Android
- Go to the Android download page.
- Select the Download Now! directive.
- Click Download Anyway.
- When ready, open the file and click Install.
- Hit Open when redirected.
- Go to the Fortnite page.
- Click Install, then launch.
Samsung
