How to View the FPS Counter in CS2
There is no direct option to turn on the FPS counter in CS2 from the Settings menu. However, there are two main ways to track FPS in the game, one through Steam and the other through the Command Console. Besides those methods, there is also an option of using a third-party FPS counter. Let’s explore these options.
Tracking FPS Through Steam
To turn on the FPS counter through Steam, follow these steps:
- Open your Steam Launcher and click on the Steam drop-down menu in the top-left corner, then select Settings.
- With the Settings window open, select the In Game tab on the left-hand side.
- Find the In-Game FPS Counter option and change the Off setting to the position that you prefer.
- You can also turn on the high-contrast colour option for better clarity.
- Close the Settings window and launch Counter-Strike 2. You will now be able to see an FPS counter.
Tracking FPS Through CS2 Command Console
If you’re in-game in CS2, you can turn on the FPS counter through the Command Console. Here’s how:
- Bring up the Command Console by hitting the ‘~’ on your keyboard.
- Type the following string into the console: cl_showfps1
- Press Enter on your keyboard and close the console. You will now be able to see your FPS written out in CS2.
Using Third-Party Apps to Track FPS
There are many apps out there that include an FPS tracker as an option. Some examples include apps like GeForce Experience for Nvidia graphics card users. For those using AMD cards, the equivalent would be the Radeon Overlay. Another well-known GPU utility is MSI Afterburner, which also features an FPS tracker. Other examples include apps like Razer Cortex, FPS Monitor, FRAPS, OBS, and others.
