''There’s something missing from this generation and it’s bothering me. As technology gets better and the limits of consoles continue to be pushed, there’s a genre that continues to be overlooked, which is full of potential. I am of course talking about the horror genre. This generation has seen a distinct lack of horror titles on the Xbox 360 and PS3.''
A breakdown of the best Silent Hill Characters that inspired and frightened gamers.
The sirens are sounding again, beckoning you back to the foggy ghost town as we rank all the Silent Hill games, from the chilling classics to the misguided missteps.
I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.
Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.
silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.
for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.
No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.
Enter a world of terror and darkness with this list comprising the best horror games of all time, featuring old and new titles.
Was playing Alien: Isolation again a few weeks ago, still holds up and the AI is incredible.
F.E.A.R. was another amazing game, shame the series went downhill with 2 and then fell off entirely with F3AR.
Couldn’t get into Fatal Frame, bought the remaster on PS5 and just…couldn’t.
Dead Space I thought was an excellent horror game. But besides that there has not been much. Even Dead Space 2 turned into a third person shooter.
FEAR 3 turned into a great co-op game
The new Silent Hill looks awesome the graphics and the effects when the town change is magnificent but still if I don't play it I cant say if it's any scary.. I hope for the best Silent Hill was back in PS1 days the most psycho game I have ever play scary and with an atmosphere that make you have goosebumps all over.
What happend? Gamers became whining little $itchs the first Dead space was great the 2nd was ok. Resident evil 5 more like an action game even silent hill after 3 went more toward an action approach.
I think if you want a true horror game then its important to control the amount of action in the game. If you have tons of guns and everything else right there for the player to use and abuse then its bound to become an action game.
If you limit the amount of resources at the players disposal and place items in areas of danger that force the player to risk their lives to get to then yeah- it works. Thats just a piece of the pie...
