As IGN said in part one, the visuals on a game console are like fine wine – they mature with age. They are looking back through the last few generations of consoles for the leading graphical lights on each system: the games that made the biggest impact or the biggest influence with their visual style. IGN has done PlayStation, Saturn and N64, and now they are moving on to Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox and GameCube.
Keiichiro Toyama—the creator and original director of the 1999 Silent Hill—shared his personal thoughts on the recently announced remake by Konami, reflecting on what the project means to him after more than two decades:
“I felt something similar when the game was adapted into a movie. It deeply moved me to see the names of the characters and locations I had created come to life visually, even though I wasn’t directly involved. That wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support of the fans and the dedication of the developers who’ve kept the series alive.
I’m really looking forward to seeing how the remake evolves this time. With the advanced technology we now have, I’m sure I’ll be surprised by how the game is reimagined. Since the original was built for the first PlayStation, there will naturally be challenges—like the camera and controls—but I’m eager to see bold and creative solutions to those elements.”
Haha Not only is bold and creatively not what the industry wants, it’s not what most people want.
They want to get scammed and pay twice for a thing they already own.
Was the SH2 remake even bold? Or was it more or less just a 1 to 1 over the shoulder remake?
A new leak has potentially revealed one more game that is set to be added the PS Plus Premium lineup of titles in July, 2025.
The voice actors for Arthur Morgan and Charles Smith have vaguely confirmed a claim by Rob Wiethoff (voice of John Marston) that big news related to the Red Dead franchise will be coming "before Friday."
I hope it's a remake of the 1st game. But it's probably just the PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption 2
I hope a PS5 upgrade launches on the same day as announcement & it costs no more than $10. I already bought the Ultimate Edition once, they got good money from me.
I stopped playing completely 2 years ago until they did 60fps. I really didn't expect it would take this long & I didn't want to start completely over on PC.
My wish is that its optimized for current gen machines, with some sort of story expansion. Undead nightmare 2! My 2nd wish is that it just shadow drops on the day of the announcement!.
Real good choices. Lol at south park, i mean the show has crappy graphics. All they were doing was make the game models look like the show.
sarcasm/
But real good choices though
Looking at the scores for the good old classics and seeing the 9s and 10s made feel like we are really throwing 9s on not so worthy games this gen !!?
I'd say this list is fairly accurate with the PS2, Xbox, and dreamcast. But I believe Metroid Prime deserves a spot on the GCN list.
Never had a Dreamcast, Original Xbox, or Gamecube so I can't relate to those games, but I definantly agree with the PS2 games on this list and the categories they are listed in.
The the first most memorable graphical jump in a PS2 game was definantly MGS2 for me, and I would also probably say that ICO, and Jak and Daxter were also, but I think MGS2 had the biggest leap early on in the PS2's lifecycle.
Later on in the PS2's lifecycle, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shadow of the Colossus and BLACK pushed the PS2 to a limit I had yet too see, and those games really wowed me on both a graphical and technical level.... and God of War 2 was just icing on the cake.
I remember when I popped in BLACK for my PS2 for the first time, I almost couldn't believe I was playing a PS2 game, lol.
god of war 2 scored 9.7 not 9.4
