Members of Pelaajalehti.com voted for the most beautiful game of all time. The voters didn't count polygons used or compare other technical aspects of graphics. Instead, the most eye-pleasing game was chosen as the winner.

Well, there's certainly some games on there you wouldn't expect. Team Fortress 2 I think surprises me the most actually.

I'm glad to see Shadow of the Colossus and Ico up there though. Those are probably the two most stunning games I've ever played. God, I can't wait to see what that team does with the PS3.

Anyway, I definitely don't agree with alot of the list... but it's just what those people chose and I at least respect the list for not simply going by raw power and whatnot. Makes it alot more interesting if you ask me.

Gran Turismo 5 prologue should be on the list because its the only game that looks completely realistic to me. When playing at certain parts it looks completely real, i.e. not computer generated but more like an interactive video capture. If you've all played it you know what I mean, and thats why I think it should have made the list for most 'beautiful' game in the world.

4) Lair (You can argue controls but not graphics)

That reason might be exactly why it's not on the list. Just because something looks "real", does not mean it's beautiful.

There are many things in real life that look as real as it gets, but are no where near beautiful, and in my opinion, one of those things is cars going round and round on a road. Then there are drawings and such that look no where near real, but are very beautiful.

I would say that the eyes alone do not decide what is beautiful or not, but something deeper.

R&C:ToD is more beautiful than Halo 3 and some others on that list tbh. Half the games on the list haven't even been released yet. Might as well add FFXIII and VSXIII maybe even WKC too. The rest of the list is good though except Megaman 9. I guess it would've been "beautiful" 20 years ago.

It's not about the graphics, it's about the art-direction and presentation of the game. Okami definitely deserves #1 for that. But I'd still have to say Crysis gets a personal choice for me just because nothing is more beautiful than photo-realism and beauty by nature, not artificial renditions of someone's vision, but the vision presented to you without action. That's true beauty. Oh..and fake boobs.

Where are the games released prior to the last two generations of consoles?

Granted, the games that list are all attractive, but I think its totally unfounded to act as if beautiful games were created with the PS2/GCN/Xbox. The SNES and Genesis, particularly, had some games that were visually stunning. And even the N64, with all of its graphical quirks, produced a few beautiful games like Super Mario 64 and Pilotwings 64.

megaman9 is solely based on fans from the nes generation. megaman x deserves that place from snes. this also reminds me of that super awesome game thunderforve IV from genesis and sonic 3/knuckles

One game that should definitely be on that list - right up there with Okami even - is Braid. That game is simply a work of art. It feels like you're playing a storybook when you play it.

lbp is soft its not harsh at all

a lot of the fpses use glarin harsh lighting and toss pixels around but other then in play they dont really please the eye at least not to me
ico and sotc are both again strikeing in there direction
