Andrew House compares PS4 launch lineup to previous generations

Sony's Andrew House has made a few interesting statements regarding the review scores of the launch games of the PS4, comparing the lineup to previous generations.

I just completed Knack, and must say that this game was lots of fun. Nothing new or innovative, but a solid, challenging, fun platformer with a good story. The reviews this game recieved are not reliable or accurate as a whole, in my opinion. Sony executives thought this game should have reviewed at around a 7/10 and I agree. I would recommend this game to someone looking for a fun platformer.

I think Knack is the PS4's Ryse. Lots of fans enjoy both games despite bad reviews and yet both games are EASY to criticize. At least Cerny was humble and honest upfront about knack and didn't talk it up like it was the second coming (looking at you, Crytek).

lol. Yea Cerny did kind of categorize Knack as a good secondary title to play after you've completed something like Killzone. Doesn't sound like a guy that actually created the game right?

People need to understand what Knack was. Knack was NEVER going to push consoles. If Knack had come out in the middle of PS4's life cycle, no one was going to think "damn I need this game, better go pick up a PS4". Therefore, Knack had no reason to be a 9 or 10, just the style of game it is doesn't make it THAT desireable in today's gaming world. Even Sony said, it was the game you popped in after a day of KZ:SF or ACIV. In the end, Knack did exactly what it was supposed to do: get bought with some Day 1's, and that's why it sold more than Mario did in the UK. It's sole purpose was to be low-budget Day 1 cheese and it completely fulfilled that purpose. Not ever game is made with the outlook of "This needs to be a GOTY." Sony has many other studios with very little resources, it wouldn't have been smart to dump all their resources into making Knack a 9 or 10.

TL;DR: Knack's sales at a 55 metacritic, and Knack's sales at a 95 metacritic wouldn't have been that different. People just picked it up cause there weren't a lot of games, and it was budgeted on that pretense.

EDIT: As opposed to Ryse, which was really meant to be a big selling point for XB1

kameo and resistance were FAR better games than anything on ps4 and xbox1

and both have way better metacritics

knack has a 55, and is a poor game in every imaginable way, graphics stink, controls are sloppy, camera sucks

killzone shadowfall has a 74, and is a decent game, generic story, passible visuals and ok controls

Ryse has a 61, is too short, pretty decent graphics, bad framerate, decent story and boring gameplay

lets be honest, the best game on both systems is ACIV

and its way better on pc, with a way cheaper price tag

metacritic scores are garbage. As much like most 100 point grade systems. If someone puts in a SINGLE zero score it can drop the score a few points.

Uh, what are you talking about? Knack was a surprise for me,very fun and Killzone, although too short single player, looks great.

I am playing Wii U, more than PS4, but it sounds to me like you are not even been playing these games. Sonic, had some bad reviews on Wii U, and I happen to like it allot.

Who cares about PC if your favorite games are not there. PS4 will be able to keep up for years to come, and by the way, Way fewer people are upgrading PC'S as much anymore. More people are buying tablets, I mean yeah we all have PC's, but unless you HAVE to, why upgrade every year or two.

My Laptop is 2 years old, and works great. The only way I will up grade, is if I have to. I use my tablet as much, if not more.
