Nintendo: No need for Zelda in 4K resolution but Pikmin would benefit from 4K

Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto said recently that he doesn't think the Legend of Zelda series would benefit from being presented in 4K resolution. He added that the Nintendo series that would benefit from it is Pikmin

Nintendo first give us a full fledge 1080p game then you can talk about 4K. ;)

mrbojingles3947d ago

There are already a bunch of 1080p Wii U games and there are more coming out, first party and third party like Wind Waker HD and Smash Bros

wishingW3L3947d ago

"There are already a bunch of 1080p Wii U games"

The only ones I know about are Pikmin and Bayonetta. Which are the other ones?

NihonjinChick3947d ago

Nintendo is already steps ahead of you.

truechainz3946d ago

so it is not okay to aim high for the future? If you are not okay with game companies improving themselves then you should find another hobby

khowat3947d ago

I think Zelda in 4k would look rather well too

Many people who have seen 4k tvs say that it is a significant improvement over 1080p and the simple bump in resolution is something you have to actually see to believe

Minato-Namikaze3947d ago

Is it about the smae as SD to HD or bigger than that?

khowat3947d ago (Edited 3947d ago )

This should help although SD can also mean 720x480 or 640x480
http://gamingbolt.com/wp-co...

as you can see its much larger than just HD and also much larger than the jump from SD to HD

MizTv3947d ago

What are you thinking Nintendo????

mrbojingles3947d ago

What do you mean? 4K for an action adventure game like Zelda does nothing to change gameplay, whereas Pikmin would be enhanced since you could add more enemies and Pikmin on screen. I'd love to see Nintendo IPs in 4k someday but that doesn't mean they'll PLAY better because of it.

LOL_WUT3947d ago (Edited 3947d ago )

Nintendo underestimated the transition to HD so what makes you think they are more than capable of pulling off 4K?

Also when they release something that rivals Halo or GOW in 1080p* then let me know but, this whole 4K talk is just that, wishful thinking. ;)

Realplaya3946d ago

@LOL_WUT You were in another article praising the WiiU now you come here on this one and become a bandwagon A Hole. Dude pick a side already.

mrbojingles3947d ago

What? How is that comment relevant and relating to this story?

die_fiend3947d ago

Ok let me show you how the comments on n4g work

'What are you thinking Nintendo'
'Canning the Wii U'

Sheesh

andrewer3947d ago

I like Nintendo because they are very calm at the graphics and power side of games, not rushed to do everything in max like the others. It's actually funny, and they instead deliver great gameplay.

wishingW3L3947d ago (Edited 3947d ago )

don't come with that bullcrap when the Wii U costs almost the same as a PS4... That's like saying that you're happy with your $500,000 crappy Corvette when for almost the same price you can get a freaking Ferrari!

Sony and Xbox deliver great gameplay too. That delusion of Nintendo fans thinking that only Nintendo does good gameplay is annoying as hell.

andrewer3946d ago

I get a console for its games, and Nintendo has more to offer to me than another right now. So yeah I paid $350 to play the games I want to play. That's my logic though, if you just want power or something keep thinking that way.

chrispseuphoria3947d ago (Edited 3947d ago )

*facepalm*

I think this company has lost it or they've gone extremely lazy. Seeing Zelda in 4K with a large open Hyrule Field would be a dream. It would be like the jump from 2D Zelda to Ocarina of Time. It would be that huge. I wish they'd just think a bit more into the future rather than the past. Man, I can't wait until Miyamoto steps down so someone new and fresh can be in control of their franchises or *gasp* create new intellectual properties.

mrbojingles3947d ago

So how does 4K resolution help Zelda's gameplay? That's Miyamoto's point.

Question_Mark3947d ago

You mean all of the new IPs Nintendo creates all the time? Just because they're not as big as Mario doesn't mean they're not new IPs. Miyamoto is also working on a new IP, himself, so...

SAYGUH3947d ago

That's what I've been saying all along, him & Iwata need to retire. Blind Nintendo fans agree with everything they dish out & never give criticism. They never listen or change anything. Zelda would look killer playing as that tech demo or 4k resolution, I dont really care for Pikmin

Zelda Replay: Majora's Mask

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Is Ocarina of Time as legendary as I remembered it? For the most part, yes. In spite of a handful of missteps — a few obtuse puzzles, some tedious backtracking, and a clunky stealth sequence — I don't believe the last 23 years have been unkind to it. Ocarina remains a brilliant example of the medium, a landmark game that shaped the future of its own franchise and 3D gaming in general. After more than two decades it retains its inventive dungeon design, challenging puzzles, dynamic combat, wistful storyline, unforgettable music, and empowering open-air freedom. I feel confident calling it one of the greatest games of the fifth generation, even if I'm no longer prepared to list it among the five best games ever made."

Pure unadulterated fun. They don't make them like this anymore...especially not the triple A industry.

FinalFantasyFanatic9d ago

Back when video rental was a thing, I rented out Majoria's Mask, I never finished it though. I did buy the 3DS version before the eshop shutdown, so maybe one day I'll finally play through the whole thing, it's amazing how well these games hold up though. I briefly played Ocarina of Time for a while and it was really fun.

Wii U games that still haven't been ported to Switch

The Nintendo Switch is potentially nearing its lifespan, and several Wii U games haven't found their way over as ports yet.

I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.

The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.

How would XCX work without dual screens functionality?

Cacabunga17d ago

Same as Paper Mario color splash. One of the best wiiu games and getting even better with dual screen. Same reason why i prefer Splatoon 1

Profchaos17d ago

This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.

Stevonidas17d ago

Devil's Third is HIGHLY underrated.

repsahj17d ago

They should remake Starfox to the switch 2. Very beautiful game during gamecube days.

Chocoburger16d ago

Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.

Nintendo's Massacre Of The 3DS And Wii U Is Finally Complete, Regrettably

Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
