GP writer Jared takes a look at why THQ's recent humble bundle may not be a good thing for Indie bundles in general.
Alex & Mike talk Biomutant, a game from Experiment 101/THQ Nordiq you likely have not heard of. While the AAA side of the industry tends to homogenization and imitative, cinematic presentation, “AA” games remain creative and innovative in 2021. Drawing on inspirations as varied as Dark Souls, third person shooters & kung fu cinema, Biomutant is Ratchet & Clank on acid, developed by a team of 20 people.
Remember THQ? They published such games as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Darksiders I & II, the Destroy All Humans series, Homefront, the Red Faction series, and Saint's Row 1-3. Almost as famous as their games were the THQ marketing stunts, including a Golden Wii.
PlaySation gamers are in for a treat today! Not only did Sony roll out its “Double Discount” PlayStation Store sale, but there’s also a THQ Humbe Bundle PS4 discount happening too!
waaaaaaahhhh waaaaaahhhhhhhh
Studio games are being sold cheap which means that indie games wont sell as much as studio games!
YES! Screw sales! Make me pay 60 dollars for THQ games so that i will buy indie games instead! This is a good plan even though i wanted the THQ games.
Honestly there's no reason why they cant have 2 humble bundles - one for indie games and one for studio games.
I think it will be an impact to an extent, but it won't last long.
1 Other developers are not going to be "humble." Instead of good games it will be "hey buy a big bundle of 5 year old games with a few trash titles mixed in!"
or
"Look ONE good game with a bunch of crap no one buys anyways!"
People don't want that. People are buying THQ games because its THQ and the games they are offering are good, period.
2 It's ultimately made for indie developers to simply get their name out there. EA and so on don't need that, and if they were to do it I can ensure you everyone would slide the slider so EA etc... get 0 dollars, and the site and charity gets it all.
Why did you write this f**** article? Why cant you just shut up, pay 5€ for freaking awesome games, and give your money to charity. This isnt about the games or the content, its about helping other who needs our help.
It's not a big deal. Bum article.
