Jes Taylor:
Recently I was playing a game on the Xbox 360 when my friend asked me, “Is this is the Platinum Hits version or the Original version?” I told them it was the original version, which got me the “Oh, that’s the worst” response. It got me thinking, what’s the difference between the two versions? I decided to try playing both versions of a game and see what the differences were. I picked the Platinum Hits version of Mass Effect and the original release version of Mass Effect.
Now there are obvious differences between Platinum Hits and the original release versions with every game. Most games have bug fixes, extra DLC, and little extras to go along with it. In this case, Mass Effect Platinum Hits came with extra DLC (Bring Down the Sky and Pinnacle Station) as well as giving you a bonus DVD of special features. The original release version didn’t have these things. I decided to put them to the test to see the differences between gameplay, graphics, sound and overall gam...
Thanks to their innovative approach to gaming, RPGs like Dark Souls, Final Fantasy VII, and Dragon Quest left a significant impact on the genre.
ES3 set things off, it's a shame they got greedy and decided to cut corners so the executives could get huge pay days.
GF365: "A friend makes the adventure all the more fun. Here are the best video game companions that will keep you company."
The Mass Effect N7 Day teaser has already been decoded, and it features Liara T'Soni talking about The Council, and The Geth can be heard too.
Better not bring back Shepherd from the dead with some half assed space magic.
@snowb420.
Yeah I saw that at the end of my play through as well. I think they will bring Shepard back….. or at least a mutant version turned villain. Lol
Comparing a re-release's graphics to the original...
Jesus, haven't game journalism hit rock bottom already? How could these people keep hitting new lows? Also I love how both comparison images named the same.
It's a video game! It's not a music record or a movie! The original and the "platinum hits" versions are the EXACT same except the Platinum Hits version is always patched. The only reason anyone would want the original is either they don't like the platinum hits case or they want to exploit some bug that was patched.
Patch makes both versions the exact same, this is a very strange and pointless article. Your image comparison is ridiculous too, it's the exact same image. It's not a comparison. You can tell by looking at the name of it. Same file.
Technically they are both the same game, but as a collector I stay away from Platinum Hits versions of games. I own 238 Xbox 360 games now and only 2 of those are Platinum Hits. I guess my hatred of "Greatest Hits" titles goes back to the original PlayStation, its Black Label or nothing, Green Labels just don't do it for me.
I think the writer is an idiot. Greatest Hits/Platinums/whatever it is called is probably always going to be the better version.
However people who buy things on ebay want the original version.
The reason is that the platinum versions look ugly.
just can't believe how stupid this guy is, hope he reads all these comments so he actually understands why people don't like the platinum hits.
