TGS: Silent Hill: Book of Memories isn't heavy reading | Destructoid

Destructoid: "Let's be honest: The Silent Hill name was tarnished long ago. Somewhere between that awful Hollywood film and The Room, a game that was never supposed to and never should have been a Silent Hill entry. Things have gotten even worse over the years, from what I hear and read. Within this context, Book of Memories may be the best thing to happen to the series in some time because it is, in the very least, competent."

They shouldn't have attached the Silent Hill name to this shit game. '-'

It's a spin-off,not like RE6 which sucks like ****,if you want to talk about sh***y games, you might wanna give THAT a try :/ !

i like what theyve done.. Its not Silent hill 5, 6, 7, or whatever.. Its a spin off & i love dungeon crawlers.. If u go into it wanting to get scared & play it as the originals, u will be disappointed.. If u go into it knowing its a spin off & wanting to play a dungeon crawler, it might be a damn fine game.. Ima buy it day uno.. granted it gets good feedback from the critics & so far it has

I'll give this spinoff a chance for sure.

The people who complain just need assurance that the main series will have a worthy sequel. It's similar to the hate Metal Gear Rising got but as soon as Ground Zeroes was announced, people became much more accepting to the project made by Platinum Games.

The same will happen to this if Konami plays their cards right......

I don't know why so many people hate Silent Hill IV: The Room. I thought it was a great installment in the series which felt like a prequel to Silent Hill II. The only flaws I could point out was that it needed more enemy designs however it offered a unique horror experience just like the others.

The atmospheres in and out of the apartment were morose yet dream-like which fits the bill like the others and the soundtrack was one of the best in the series.

I mostly disagree with Downpour's position. Yeah, the game is not amazing by any stretch of the imagination but is much better than the HD Collection and Homecoming. The main issue is the performance, but that was mitigated by the patches, especially on the PS3. Personally, I put it a little behind Origins and The Room.

Having Restless Dreams as a different entry from Silent Hill 2 is also a choice.

Normally, we would not consider it a different game (Restless Dreams), but since it had a very different critical reception and had new content, it was allowed. As for Downpour, I would agree, but since that one is subjective, we let him make his case for the placement.

gold_drake184d ago

silent hill 2 is definitely the best one out of those.

for me personally, the whole ritual/cult stuff was always so weird to me in all the other games.

CrimsonWing69183d ago

No disrespect but I put SH2 over 1. 1 is fantastic, but 2 took it all up a level.

bfrye26183d ago

We agree, that is why the writer put it in top place!

Honestly, I'd add Lords of Shadow 2 to the list. That was a huge disappointment.

I thought Suikoden would be mention.
