Bizarre reluctant to return to Geometry Wars

Bad news for anyone still hoping for more Geometry Wars. Bizarre Creations is well aware of the public demand, but they'd rather leave the franchise alone.

"It's just a great thing having titles that people love, that they associate with our studio - and Geometry Wars is one of them," said level designer Peter Collier. "It's very close to a lot of fans' hearts. I guess it's just one of those things, that it's a great and very proud feeling having something that the fans adore so much, but we don't want to over-saturate it by carrying on with it. It's may be something that we keep as something we love, and move on to other things, you know?"

Is this any good? I heard this game being compared to SuperStarDust HD, but I love SSHD to death and its 1080p/60fps on endless mode.

GW came first. SSSD is the PS3 equivalent of GW, it isn't a clone, but they have the same feeling of addictiveness and as platform exclusive twin stick shooters.

I'd suggest to try Geometry Wars 2. You really need not bother with the first, Galaxies for Wii and DS is pretty neat too, but shows the franchise can be made without Bizarre.

i like it because you can get the ds version of the original via dlc from the wii to the ds. Nice game to play on the go.

There is no logical reason to ignore one of your biggest games and franchises so what gives???...Hmmmm...I smell a conspiracy and it might have something to do with the fact that their last games were made exclusively for M$. If M$ published Geometry wars then maybe there is something in writing preventing them from making it...who knows. What I do know is...

They were bought by Activision ( '07 ) and that was sad. They should of been making Project Gothic Racing 5 ( 360 exclusive ) and instead made Blur, a game that had good reviews but nobody bought. They also made a game that I liked called the Club, again it never really sold well despite being a solid game. A really talented bunch over there and I hope James Bond: Blood Stone plays and sells as well as it looks.

You'd think Activision, upon reading this, would fly in a 300 lb. no-neck sort of guy the next day, and he'd tap on the office door of whoever is in charge at Bizarre with a baseball bat, and he'd say, "Hey! Your uncle Bobby just read something very sad and misguided on the watcha-ma-call-it? Oh yeah, the internet, and it made him worry. It made him worry real bad. So now he wants to know how the new Geometry Wars game is going. By by next Friday. Capisce? "

Cajun Chicken4973d ago

Actually. I'd quite like it if Activision did do that in this case, for once.

GW2 I am so close to crossing the billion mark on pacifism that is makes me sick to know I just need a couple more gates...sigh well If they ever do make a GW3 i am all over it!!

Geometry Wars Evolved Is The Latest Xbox One Backwards Compatible Title

This was on the list since day one...

It was the first title that I downloaded and played to test out Backwards compatibility, when it was only available in the preview program.

I think I did that the night of E3 when they announced it was going live to all preview program participants.

Did they take it down at some point and it's just now coming back?

Maybe it's been gone and I didn't realize it because I already had it downloaded, but it was definitely there from the beginning for me.

Edit: Yeah that is exactly what happened. It never made the final list, it was just in the preview program.

Um, yay? I mean, it's great for those that have the game but this is another title that really isn't too high on the votes I don't think.

At the very least, an update on titles announced months ago would be nice.

If MS is getting permissions for these small titles then I wish they would get Sega's Sonic All Star Transformed.

jholden32492981d ago

It's time they made a sequel to that wouldn't you say? Idk if sales were that hot for the last one though... Idk maybe they were.

gangsta_red2981d ago

I would love a sequel more than anything. But I don't think it did do that well especially since they released more content on the mobile version and nothing for consoles.

If they can't do a sequel then at least make it BC.

is it me , or does it look washed out on X1? like the brightness was turned up too much?? it doesnt have that crisp vector line pop like it does on the 360.....

Looks fine to me but I'm just going by memory.

I didn't load up the original to compare.

The Shoot 'm Up That Can Change a Genre

Let's be fair for a moment. Shoot 'em ups (shmups) made in the last twenty years have been labeled many things - boring, repetitive, old-fashioned, unfair, and purely dependent on memorization. This all made the genre stop growing until it was only appealing to a certain niche market.

Trying to break the mold without breaking the core of what makes shoot 'em ups fun, the team behind Roche Fusion worked hard to create a game that can bring back this genre for mainstream gamers. Since the team consists of two different generations, we were easily able to take what people loved about the shmup genre and combine it with all the things they currently love in newer genres.
