The list is almost always different From Zelda Fan to Zelda Fan.

Xof4041d ago

That's because most fans fail to recognize the one and only truth about all Zelda games: they're all great!

You can enjoy some above others, sure, but in terms of actual quality... they're all equal.

Jyndal4041d ago

You obviously never got to play Wand of Gamelon.
One of the worst games ever made, compounded by the fact that it was a Zelda title.

contradictory4041d ago

@Jyndal
the CD-i games were not made by Nintendo
they are not counted as a LoZ game
go look for it on the LoZ official timeline
you don't see it in there for a reason

it's like if i would make Metal Gear Solid game and have it all cutscenes of uncensored male to male intercourse
but it still wouldn't be MGS game

MadLad4041d ago

Majora's Mask is my personal favorite as well.
The tone and atmosphere of the game is unlike any other in the series.

Here is the list of Zelda games I have played: Zelda 1 and 2, LttP, Link’s Awakening DX, Minish Cap, OoT, MM, WW, TP, and SS. Out of all of them, my favorite was Ocarina of Time. My least favorite was Majora’s Mask. I beat Majora’s mask, but just didn’t enjoy it for some reason. I didn’t find it fun. But, I enjoy Zelda games quite a bit. I can’t wait to play the sequel to A Link to the Past on my 3DS, and I am ready for E3 so that I can see a new Zelda game on the Wii U.

Majora's Mask?!
Really?!

MM was a quick cash grab on the dying N64 system. I could have dealt with OoT, or WW getting #1, but MM?

Personally I love the original best, but then again, I've been gaming since the Atari/Amiga/Colecovision days.

whoa...quick cash grab? It did things other games hadn't even tried at the time.

The Town was alive, or that is how it seemed.

I like it's place within the Legend of Zelda world.

I've still yet to beat it or any LoZ game to be honest though.

MadLad4041d ago

Quick cash grab?
A release, four years after Ocarina of Time, on a system that was on its way out?

Far from, I would say.

That list is identical in the top five. Each of us has our own personal emotional ties to each Zelda game. We all reacted differently. Very nostalgic read!

Zelda Replay: Majora's Mask

VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Is Ocarina of Time as legendary as I remembered it? For the most part, yes. In spite of a handful of missteps — a few obtuse puzzles, some tedious backtracking, and a clunky stealth sequence — I don't believe the last 23 years have been unkind to it. Ocarina remains a brilliant example of the medium, a landmark game that shaped the future of its own franchise and 3D gaming in general. After more than two decades it retains its inventive dungeon design, challenging puzzles, dynamic combat, wistful storyline, unforgettable music, and empowering open-air freedom. I feel confident calling it one of the greatest games of the fifth generation, even if I'm no longer prepared to list it among the five best games ever made."

Pure unadulterated fun. They don't make them like this anymore...especially not the triple A industry.

Back when video rental was a thing, I rented out Majoria's Mask, I never finished it though. I did buy the 3DS version before the eshop shutdown, so maybe one day I'll finally play through the whole thing, it's amazing how well these games hold up though. I briefly played Ocarina of Time for a while and it was really fun.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the anti-Breath of the Wild

Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."

Ocarina of Time changed my life forever, such a masterpiece

Zeldafan64141d ago

Hard to believe it's 25 years old already.

Cacabunga141d ago

The feeling this game gave me the first time i had my hands on it is indescribable.. i still get the chill from that day..
botw is like a spin off of the series.. it’s fun but with many flaws and the most important which is Zelda formula isn’t there..

FinalFantasyFanatic140d ago

I can't even remember how many times I played through OoT, I finished that game, and collected everything so many times.

Vits141d ago

I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.

gold_drake140d ago

but still considered the best of the seties.

i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.

franwex140d ago (Edited 140d ago )

25 years from today whatever Zelda is out people would too be looking fondly at Breath of the Wild.

Ah the more simple times of the 2020s.

babadivad140d ago (Edited 140d ago )

It isn't...
