Yep Sony doesn't really have to change anything until/unless Microsoft and Nintendo step up their game with a good number of really fun quality exclusives. If anything I'd worry more about Nintendo since Zelda and the new Mario actually look pretty fun. But that's offset with some clunky looking controls, not exactly overpowered hardware on the Switch, and not much third-party support. The fact that they had to highlight Skyrim, a nearly 6 year old game, is pretty telling about...

What few exclusives Xbox has have been greatly disappointing this gen. Gears, Halo, Dead Rising have all been underwhelming both in gameplay and sales. Recore was awful. Halo Wars 2 looks ok, but it's more of a B title and not a real Halo fps release. And Forza Horizon 3 was good, but it's popularity fizzled pretty quickly. More importantly, Halo Wars 2 and Forza Horizon 3 you can play on PC (in higher res too) and don't even need an XB1 for. I don't really count timed e...

Yes they absolutely do. It's not really even a tough call. There are excellent male streamers that take at least a few years to get to 2k viewers at a time or 500 subs on Twitch. An even average looking female streamer that just lightly flirts with viewers will hit that in no time, even ones that barely play games while they stream. And if they are attractive, wear a low-cut shirt, mount the camera high conveniently looking down for max cleavage, spend most time in full-screen rather ...

There are many times I'd rather take a break from playing myself and watch someone play. Plus the chats of the real streamers can be a lot of fun (not the juvenile idiot ones, but the fun ones that are actually exist). Also, streamers own games I don't own and it's a chance to check a game out from an unbiased perspective. Lastly, there are quite a few games that aren't fun to play solo but are fun to play with friends. Certain survival games and team games come to mind. ...

Yep, gotta make quality good gameplay exclusive games that people want to play. Sony is miles ahead in that area. Microsoft's exclusives have either been cancelled, or have disappointed with Halo 5 and Quantum Break. There are seriously 5 or 10 good PS4 exclusives for every single equally good XB1 exclusive. That needs to change more than hw. The hw needs improved too just to make cross-platform releases not at a lower res on XB1 than PS4, which has been the case and just makes XB1&#...

Definitely there's no doubt people can easily tell the difference between 30 and 60fps. Even with tv you can notice slow refresh tvs during sports. Most tv programs have static content and aren't moving around enough for the low fps to be very noticeable. But I agree it's tough to say what the upper limit of it is. It's above 60 for sure, and I think it's at least into the low 100s. I notice eye strain in 30 fps games also.

I think it's difficult to compare sales graphs to the previous gen though. The original Wii was a huge fad that spurred sales to even non-traditional gamers. And the 360 had absolutely insane hardware issues. Literally, and I'm not kidding, I went through *4* Xbox 360s during it's lifespan. I know many others had similar issues, to the point that they switched to PS3 a couple years in out of anger towards Microsoft over the 360 problems. It's tough to blame anyone for swi...

This looks pretty awful. There were a couple of posts from people who tried it and said it's more fun that it looked, but meh. The bigger concern for me with the Switch were the controllers. They're very small for Western hands, and looked awkward, cheap, and very limited in buttons for a modern controller. The improved rumble and other aspects seemed great, but the controller seemed like it would be a mess for any game the least bit complicated. I guess for Mario Odyssey or Mari...

The game looks pretty good. But it's hard for me to stay excited for a game previewed 2-3 years before release. Very little sense in marketing a game that far in advance unless you have nothing else to show. Major aspects of the game could change if it's that early, it can be cancelled, etc. I'd love to see a standard where companies don't preview games more than a year out from planned release. Otherwise you're just showing people a gfx demo 3 years before release, n...

No MSFT included it in their E3 presentation. So while it's an Indie game, it was shown as part of their portfolio in that presentation to market XB1. Sure Sony has done it from time to time (also with third-parties), but Microsoft is getting pretty bad both about having a very short exclusives list, and the few they have end up being announced way too far in advance. And games being cancelled before release due to those super-long lead times don't help either. Not to mention a fe...

Well good and bad. On the good side if it was looking bad better to cancel than put out another awful game.

On the bad side, this was one on a very short list of XB1 exclusives that weren't just Xbox Arcade type small games like Cuphead, State of Decay 2, etc. In fact it was one of their primary exclusives previewed last year at E3. So this is a tough cut.

Need good Scorpio news, and good AAA exclusives that are actually coming out in the next year. Too many previews of games that don't come out for years and then are cancelled, or that are bad when they do finally come out.

There are kind of 2 categories of female gamers for me. The first are the real female gamers, who just play the games like guys do. They might get grief sometimes, but that's just part of online gaming imo. The Internet and much online play has a very Jr. High mentality overall, and people will trash talk or troll over anything they can possibly find to do it on. So if a gamer is a female that's an easy target, just like race/weight/etc. That's something that will probably al...

Destiny was a very good game, but unfortunately never quite reached the great potential it had. With the expansions, either they couldn't make up their mind or just for marketing reasons, they do 4 expansions...1 very short one, then a slightly longer one, and both left many customers feeling ripped off for what little content they got. Then TTK which was finally a decent sized expansion, followed by Rise of Iron which went back to 2 hours of content for $30 that alienated customers. ...

Not necessarily just for Marvel, but ever since Disney bought Marvel it's seemed like the licensing has been way tighter. Meaning Disney being much tougher on licensing, and pickier about what they let the Marvel brand go on.

Maybe Conker and of course Fable, but most of the others on the list I wouldn't be too excited about. I'm surprised Age of Empires would be on the list also, those types of games are much better suited for PC controls than console.

This is never really a close call, XB Gold wins pretty handily for me again. It's not just about retail price like the article tries to use as a comparison. It's whether the games are fun enough to even be worth the download and hard drive space. More often than not the answer is no to the PS+ games, as is the case again this month. For sure the KI season is worth it on the XB side. For me PS+ is just to cover the online play and the few other minor perks like cloud saves, and if...

I'm confident Scorpio will be a nice piece of hardware. I'm far less confident that Xbox will have must-have hit exclusive games that justify buying it. And that doesn't include cross-play games I can just play on PC, or big-name games that disappoint (cough Halo 5).

Xbox is way, way, behind Sony in that area. And the 2017 games coming out like Horizon, Nier Automata, Last of Us 2, etc. will only extend that difference. I'd like to play those in 4k. I...

The article isn't really blaming Gamestop, so the title is a bit misleading. The author is blaming the trade-in of games, which I also think is totally off. Yes Gamestop maybe gives $20 for a $60 game. But, more often than not either with GCU at Best Buy, or Prime with Amazon, or just sales, you can get any new game now for $48 or less at release. Plus Gamestop buys wholesale obviously, so they are likely only paying $30 or less for a new copy. Why should they pay you more for trade-...

Madden has had that for almost as long as it's been around. It's kind of odd that EA would admit it is in Madden and then deny it's in FIFA. There is so much overlap in their game development that it would be pretty surprising to see them have it in Madden but not FIFA. They've always been pretty secretive about the internal workings, stats, and AI of their games though.
