Until cellphones/pads have decent controls, they will never be any good, really.

If there are a lot of successors to the Xperia Play, maybe cellphones have a chance. Otherwise, forget it. Touchscreens are convenient and all, but replace gaming controls? No. Not even close.

Buttons are grossly underestimated, when it comes to usefulness.

I thought I heard in an earlier video, that the L2 button was a special turn mode for the gun?

You'd think a media guy would, you know... read the instructions. He may as well play with one finger up his nose, and do his "review" based on that.

It'll be the cheapest, and will still likely support 720p HD gaming, which is a lot closer to the 1080p the next gen competitors will be supporting, than 480p was to the current 720p HD consoles.

That's basically all it needs to do fairly well, as long as Mario and Zelda are in the software stable. Basically it can thrive for the same reason Sony and MS can have "10 year plans" -- the consoles are viable, in the eyes of the general consumer, for that long a...

MAG has no single player, no AI, etc. That's what the video was about (SOCOM 4 single player, AI, etc.) when I watched it just a moment ago.

Are you just trolling? Have you even played MAG?

I LoL at all the so-called "vets" whining about how SOCOM 4 doesn't require teamwork, and all the newbs complaining about how it requires too much.

Just a bunch of CoD fanboys, trying to give their lame franchise some value, as I see it. Most of them probably never played a SOCOM game in their life... or at least they never managed to score a kill in one.

This dude should make some good games, that don't require years of patching and a couple expansions before they work right, and then maybe he can hand out some advice.

Until then, Brad, learn to fit in a memory budget, and make games that aren't buggy messes.

Ah, its over eh? Seems nice of Sony. Hotz sure enjoyed that South American vacation on his supporters' money though.

Japan is a small market... BUT, nowhere else in the world are games produced in such quantity, especially for portables.

If the 3DS has to rely upon western devs for success, because the little japanese devs don't see it as a viable local market... well that won't turn out well.

Japan is a critically important market -- not because of consumer numbers relative to the world totals, but because of culture, and the fact that gaming is so much more widely...

The SOCOM 4 review guy went on and on about "how you could use squad commands and smoke... if you were patient". It's a tactical shooter, bud. Patience is the idea.

And then he goes on about how hard the game is for him, by trying to nitpick.. I guess because he's trying to play a tactical shooter by lone-wolfing it, and then whines about *both* having to use his squad for regular gameplay, AND the fact that they don't beat the tough fights *for him*. ...

I think we'd be amazed at what Sony 1st parties could do with a 580, instead of a slightly modifed 7800 GTX.

Calling out MGO as your fav online game really explains alot.

They increased the field-of-view by 20%. Presumably this means you can see further around you, which was the real issue.

Merely moving it back would simply let you see more of your character's tail end, which uh... isn't really the point. The point was more awareness, from a wider field-of-view. Zipper isn't stupid enough to take "pull the camera back" literally, since that's pointless -- what players wanted was to widen the viewing angle, so they...

SOCOM 1 and 2 had pretty weak sales, given the complete lack of online competition, and the fact that the PS2 was basically the ruler of the console roost, at the time. The original Halo demolished them, and for a console which sold only 1/6th as much, worldwide.

SOCOM 4, in the eyes of the many, will probably be hailed as the best SOCOM ever made. I actually have to agree with that sentiment, because I'm not so gung-ho to pretend my childhood memories are as true as I ...

Well.. presumably everyone who bought this phone was planning on buying games for it, which is not the case for other phones, really.

Still, its good to hear that it pushes gaming so well on Android.

I would actually say that the main issue with the 3DS is that it lacks horsepower and screen resolution, for the outrageous price Nintendo charges, and limited battery life for a machine so underpowered, relative to other handheld devices..

Also, the best touted feature of the device is the ability to turn the 3D *off*. Ironic, don't you think? Just a little maybe?

When will we see articles that tell it the way it is, like
"Assassin's Creed 3, confirmed via 'duh 7M AC:B sold, of course'"
or
"Modern Warfare 3, confirmed via 20 million CoD:BO"
etc.

When has a multimillion seller *ever* simply vanished, without at least pulling 3-4 sequels, and/or dropping off the sales charts? If it sells over 2.5 million copies, there's going to be another. I think it may actually be a...

@LOGICWINS,

You realize that the PSP cost more than the PS2 when it was released, right?

And the DS cost more than the GameCube?

And the 3DS costs more than the Wii?

...and so on?
