You can't tell people what to find value in. It's subjective. What you find value in, someone else wont. A guy walks into a Gamestop and say he wants to buy a next gen console and play Call of Duty online. The Gamestop employee says "The PS3 has wifi and you can watch blu ray". The XBox 360 with the game and 1 months live is still cheaper. The guy says, "well, I don't need blu ray or wifi and the XBox 360 is cheaper" so he buys an XBox 360. 3 months later, he rearranges hi...

I think you like Sony, overestimates what exactly the consumer wants. They don't want blu ray or wifi or feel like these things are needs. Exclusive titles really have not been able to separate themselves from multiplatform titles on either console. Is inFamous a big draw when Crackdown can be had for $15 and Prototype days from release? Is Killzone 2 worth the leap when Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare can be bought for $15 and has a thriving online community? Value is subjective. I watched a g...

If a game is available on multiple platforms the consumer is going to choose the console with the lowest initial cost. That's just basic economics. If a game is available a year earlier on a console, a consumer who wants that game is going to get it a year earlier rather than hoping it becomes available on another console a year later. The only persons that helps is someone who already owns a PS3. Now, when we look at exclusives; exclusives aren't going to generate new console owners because ...

I've said this a time and time again and I'll say it again; the core gamer, as a percentage of the overall gaming community is very small. The Xbox 360's attach rate is 8.3, better than it's competitors but put that in perspective and it's a small number. The average video game consumer buys a new title every 2 and a half months according to a recent NPD study. The core gamer may be the minority but on the internet, they're the majority and it's the reason there always seems to be the disconn...

The GameCube sold less than the orginal Xbox with about 22 million units in lifetime sales. Really, it's funny how misinformed people are on the internet for the sake of argument when the information is right there.

Edit* How is it possible to disagree with a fact?

You know, I don't know what your argument is. From that wall of text I got nothing more than an uneducated rant. Sales and revenue are the only true meassure of success in a "for-profit" industry.

Tim Sweeney has been working on UE4 for almost 2 and a half years and Epic has said the engine will not run on current generation hardware. All 3 console makers have been in the R&D stages on a new console for about just as long. While Sony are committed to supporting the PS3 for 10 years, I'm sure we'll see a new PlayStation before then.

. . . when I read an article like this, I truly wonder what the writer's definition of momentum is. Sony has a great line up of game but these games have little appeal. To be very honest, a person who is interested in Killzone 2, MAG, Uncharted 2 or God of War 3 is a core gamer and these persons either already have 1 or both current gen consoles. The gaming media is very core-centered but the excitement for what Sony is doing first and second party hasn't translated into hardware or software ...

Maybe you can't read but he never said that. The team is made up of former Team Ninja members, the art team from Vitua Fighter 5, the lead engineer who brought Ninja Gaiden to the DS and a team of young engineers and programmers. He said he wanted to be flexible when asked the question of platforms BUT stated he had friends at Microsoft and being comfortable with Microsoft would weigh in the decision of platform. Read again, fanboy. And I own an Xbox 360 so don't even think of calling me a PS...

He said they wanted to be flexible but enjoyed his relationship with Microsoft. He never said it was an Xbox 360 game. I can see him having a publishing relationship with Microsoft but I'm sure there are other large publishers who would get in line to publish an Itagaki game. Especially given the team he has working with him. An action adventure game to rival Ninja Gaiden Black could be in the cards.

Looks terribly generic.

I really believe this game will deliver. I really hope the delay is to polish the game but it does look like a winner from all the media we've seen so far.

As much as Square Enix may have wanted to develop the game on a single platform, the PS3, you have to look at the current climate of the video game industry. Spiralling development, production and distribution costs as well as the XBox 360's market share played a large roll in the decision. I understand the frustrations of loyalists but we're past the point of "what could have been".

PS3 exclusives benefit from extended development cycles, unlimited financial and manpower resources, and shared development tools, ideas and engine development, all to showcase the power of the console. This is the direction Sony has chosen to move its internal development and long delays are finally paying off with exciting offerings. That said, it hasn't translated into hardware or software penetration because the only persons who truly care are actually the minority. It just so happens tha...

Well thoughtout, well written article by Richard. I see the fanboy bickering has already started. I'm sure half of you haven't read the article, as usual.

Really?! Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter didn't impress you? Rainbow Six Vegas didn't impress you? You're a hard man to please.

Andy McNamara of Game Informer said on the Bonus Round that Microsoft isn't letting anybody see the game. The game is developed and published by Ubisoft so how does Microsoft have any control over the title?!

Edit* What kind of messed up posters are on this site? How do you get 2 disagrees by asking a question? There isn't even anything to disagree or agree with?! @_@

The announcement did offer him some validation. He was very smug about it on his twitter today. I suppose even a broken clock is right twice a day. So far he less reliable than a broken clock.

The fact that the game had to be patched 3 time with almost wholesale changes being made to the multiplayer and it's ranking system, shows that many gamers dissatisfaction with the game's multiplayer wasn't unwarranted. The game shipped with a broken multiplayer.
