It's fine, Fallout New Vegas didn't live up to it's predecessor and flopped on the innovative side. Layoffs are sad but it's not like we won't get over it. I mean, we say in our heads "oh no this is awful..." and then we post that here like others will band together and care, but if we really did care then it wouldn't have happened in the first place. And it wouldn't have happened in the first place if Fallout New Vegas was "good" instead of &qu...
Why disagree to facts? I was talking about power and profit, you talk about immersion and quality of entertainment which is a cop out and a denial to fact. Your argument lacks valid claims to back itself up and hold ground, yet the lack of a warrant of modern etiquette as it pertains to my point fails to be computable. What you just said in response to my post stands no ground and only encourages the kind of useless ignorance we see at N4G, Highlife.
Yes, the iPad is more pow...
My MBA already caught up to consoles long time ago. iPad 3 is as powerful as consoles if not more, especially if they run the device at 720p on that large screen instead of it's default resolution. Consoles are old sauce, we're still using them because there is some money there and gaming isn't convenient enough yet on PCs to have a big enough performance gap for a relatively cheap and easy price that requires little to no effort on the user's side.
Innovation is a big part of game sales. Good content is a big part of game sales. Lets look at some games that got a lot of attention in the Jan-Feb 2009 period versus the Jan-Feb 2012 period, and what they did to get that attention...
2009:
1. Sims 3
--big game, big sale, lots of content, it's another Sims game
2. Killzone 2
--big game, innovated graphical potential and elements that hadn't even been considered in shooters before
CoD talks about new weapons:
"OmFG WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU ACTIVATION U R TERIBOL AND THE GAMES U DUVALOPE GIVE A WHORIBUL PRESIDENT TO THE INDUSTRY AND GAMING AS A HOLE. Y NOT FIX TEH OLD GUNS B4 U MAKE UNBALAUNSED PEIICES OF SHIT SNICE WE ARLREADY HAS SOMUCH. WE HAT E UYO SOO MULCH."
BF does new weapons:
"Meh."
We should look at what Ebert is saying, and continue to hate on Fox News. Why the hell are we mixing Ebert with Fox News? And more importantly this info is based on less than 140 characters of text and a link to a review by someone else.
Ebert has a logical point, I know he's hating on an excellent game, but if you've read about it you'll know he doesn't like the fact it plays like a "game" and hasn't advanced to that "experience" he...
CoD4 was the great one, and CoD never died, it just hasn't lived up to CoD4:MW. CoD2 was okay, but CoD3 and W@W don't hit the quality bar. MW2 and Black Ops didn't raise the bar set by MW so they're condemned by critics and fans a disappointments,
MW3--summarizing opinions of most--sets in between MW2-Black Ops and CoD3-W@W. Not great, not necessarily good, not meh. Just okay.
Just so you guys know, it's either fake or an alpha build menu ...
I agree. Though I don't think there will be a "best controller interface" ever. But many a time I have suggested Move + Kinect like controller interface would be the closest thing to what we're looking for in the next step of a gaming experience, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. I'd prefer staying away from tablet controllers and keeping with the whole one screen thing, you can't really focus on two screens at once, and I want to feel more involve...
This game was a spectacle of beauty. Everything was perfect. I laughed, I cried, I grew angry with disgust and somehow didn't regret a single moment of the sheer work of art this game truly is. How dare you spit your hatred on it. Never have I before laughed-my-ass-off, nor have I rolling-on-floor-laughing, and, in truth, you'd never see me rolling-on-floor in addition to laughing-my-ass-off--until this beautiful piece of a game. This game truly defined comedy in the spectrum of gami...
You asked for it
The story isn't bad, it's actually really fun. The fluid gameplay, graphics, and overall fun of Kingdom Hearts is what makes it such a good game. It was definitely my favorite game growing up, end of discussion. The story was great, but it's a very playful story--and much like undubbed anime for most people, unless it is aesthetically and functionally superior, it's hard to get into. Kingdom Hearts is superior, and because of it's superiority, it allows for easier ingestio...
While a good RTS games on console seems like a redeemable trait, a lot of success in RTS games could be achieved with motion controllers becoming a standard instead of a standalone gimmick. Using your body as an interface device is moving us closer into the future of interactive entertainment--putting another screen in front of us doesn't seem incredibly productive, and it's much more expensive than standardizing motion controllers for more successful casual play.
I would neve...
Exactly firefoxprime. Exactly.
It's a fun game, if you're trying to play Kingdom Hearts for the story you're doing it wrong
Please don't tell me this is our next gen gimmick. IMO we need serious CPU and GPU upgrades, not touch screens. Both if it's economically sound--but it won't be. Tablets aren't good enough to use as interface devices for gaming. If they were we wouldn't need a console unit, we'd just need the tablet.
Touch screens are a step back from a more successful interactive interface anyway. We already know touch screen FPS games feel awkward. Two separate joyst...
MW2 was worse than MW. Black Ops was worse than MW2. MW3 was worse than Black Ops. See a connection?
...lets not even bring up W@W, what a piece of shit that was...
The only reclaim for Treyarch's games are the Zombies, but the low frame-rate, constant nerfing and input lag is unacceptable.
Trey, you have it backwards. The PS3 has the less stable servers, it's only equal for the PS3 and 360 when it's developed for the PS3 first, since the technology is more difficult to code, it makes it easy to port to the 360. When it's developed for the 360, the translation process is too complex, and it leaves a lot of room for bugs.
Just so you know though, Skyrim may have actually been more successful and much less buggy on the PS3 if it was the lead developmen...
Read my comment all the way through.
All the way. Maybe to the word 'discounting.'
See anything familiar?
It shattered a 18-49 male record and basic cable drama record, and yes, I think it deserves more attention. Are people talking about the Walking Dead like Twilight or Harry Potter? No, they're not. Every episode of that show is like a movie, I honestly think the show deserves more than a couple of shattered cable records (which it has).
The example makes no sense. If it was for a bigger TV show then it would, but any exposure is great for a game. Not that I'm discounting The Walking Dead--The Walking Dead is awesome, but it doesn't have the fanbase it deserves.
Video-game ads work when they get enough coverage. The big problem with video games is that they seldom don't get enough media exposure. Remember how Deus Ex and LA Noire did well, despite their odd premises and very different approaches to gamepla...
I played Duke Nukem and Mortal Kombat with my Dad growing up before I even hit into Kindergarten. I got a full ride to a pretty famous (some would say "prestigious") university thanks to my 7.3GPA in high school (4.0 weighted). I grew up playing violent and controversial video games. I currently have a 4.0 GPA and am a sophomore in college. I couldn't fathom the thought of hurting another human being. In fact video games probably granted me better insight on the difference betwe...
