There is one reason — and a most important reason — why Heavy Rain fails miserably: The quality of the dialogue and voice acting is awful.
Mass Effect 2 has excellent dialogue and writing, and the voice acting is top notch.
Heavy Rain, on the other hand, has atrocious dialogue and awful voice acting. The dialogues lack fluidity. They don’t flow right and don’t sound right. They feel disconnected and lack dramatic crescendo. Worst of all, the voice acting in Heavy Rai...
I don't know why people think Mass Effect is like Star Wars. It is actually more like Star Trek.
Somehow Sony fanboys want to shove blu-ray down everyone's throat, including PC gamers'. Because you know most PC gigs -- even newly built ones -- are still using DVD.
But it's more of a mixed-genre than RPG.
Incidentally, Mass Effect 2 (96) is the highest-rated RPG of this generation. It's better rated than Oblivion (94 for 360), Fallout 3 (93 for 360), Dragon Age (91 for PC), Demon's Soul (89) and... Final Fantasy XIII (86 for PS3 and may go lower.)
That's the lowest-rated console title from BioWare.
BioWare rarely gets anything lower than 90 at Metacritic. But Dragon Age did.
It's a shock because it came out two years after Mass Effect but looks so.. outdated.
Dragon Age is also BioWare's lowest-rated games on a console: 85/86 for Xbox 360/PS3. BioWare games rarely got below 90, but Dragon Age did.
Hopefully the next one will be better looking.
Gran Turismo 5, Super Mario Galaxy or the new Zelda could easily outsell Halo: Reach.
I don't feel the need to get blu-ray for my PC.
Just like Heavy Rain.
Yuck. Please hire a REAL writer to write the dialogues, and REAL actors to do the voice work.
This should not come as a surprise to anyone.
However, Edge did give 9 to both Uncharted 2 and Mass Effect 2.
Sony Entertainment VP of Publisher Relations Rob Dyer said, (and I quote from the article,) "We're not going to get the exclusive games – the Mass Effects, Gears of Wars and Left 4 Deads aren't going to happen nearly as often."
If anyone is going to know which titles are coming to PS3 or not, it's the guy who is in charge of PUBLISHER RELATIONS for SONY.
$50 to $60 for a game is too much. It should be $30 to $40.
It won't work for Alan Wake either.
Gears of War 2 and Fable 2 still don't have a PC version; and given that they are already old games, it's certain at this point that they are NEVER getting a PC version.
that Xbox 360 is getting another TRUE exclusive that could actually turn out to be really good.
Alan Wake is not the first major Xbox 360 release without a PC port. Halo 3, Gears of War 2 and Fable 2, all three games published by Microsoft have never been ported to the PC, yet some PS3 fanboys are still in denial and say those games are coming to the PC. (Hello? How many years have it been since those games were released?? Two? Three??)
I say it's a good decision ...
How many years has it been since Halo 3 come out?
How many years has it been since Gears of War 2 come out?
How many years has it been since Fable 2 come out?
Neither Halo 2, Gears of War 2 nor Fable 2 has a PC version. FYI, all those games were published by Microsoft -- just like Alan Wake will be.
Microsoft has finally learned that it is important to have REAL exclusives for their console.
Sick and tired of FPS and shooters.
Xbox 360 needs more non-FPS/non-shooter exclusives. Fable 2 (a TRUE exclusive with no PC version) was a good start. (Halo 3 and Gears of War II are also "true" exclusives because Sony fanboys can't play 'em on their imaginary gaming PC. LOL. No PC version for those two games as well.)
Alan Wake and now Fable III are what Xbox 360 needed. True exclusives that are not shooters.
Halo 3. Gears of War II. Fable 2. Sony fanboys used to keep saying they were not "true" exclusives because they would have PC version "soon enough". Well, it's been years, and now it's certain that the PC versions are not coming for Halo 3, Gears of War II and Fable II.
And now add Alan Wake to the list. So now Sony fanboys can't complain that Xbox 360 does not have "true" exclusive, and they can play play Xbox 360 exclusives on the PC as well. ...
I have not played Heavy Rain. However, I have seen many clips from the games. While the game has spectacular graphics and interesting mechanics, I have noticed a serious problem from those clips: the dialogues. The dialogues, in English, are awful.
Mass Effect 2 has terrific, sharp dialogues that often surpass those from decent Hollywood movies. They are even more amazing given that Mass Effect 2 includes many times the dialogues and lines in a typical movie; it is difficult en...
And they make the real money and profit from selling games.
Now, if the Army buy a lot of consoles, the console maker (Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony) will have to sell those consoles at losses or break even. Then, the Army will buy only ONE copy of each game, and then use that copy for all the consoles.
That means the console maker will never be able to recover their losses if they sell to the Army.
Heavy Rain has awful, awful dialogue and embarrassingly bad voice acting.
