I don't get why people want to buy a new game when it just comes out. It's actually better to wait for all the bug fixes, patches, DLC, expansions, updates and upgrades, and price cuts.

Sony might have controlled the initial waves of reviews and put a gag order on (bad) reviews initially, but as more and more reviews came out later, the average score turned out to be very fair.
I have always found that the metacritic scores are very fair in the long run; the only people who complain about metacritic being biased is the PS3 fanboys who are upset that some PS3 exclusives got some low average scores.
Given that the Xbox 360 version (NOT the PS3 version) of Modern Warfare 2 is the best selling game of 2009. Pretty much all multi-plat FPS have sold better on Xbox 360.
The FPS customer base is on the Xbox 360 side, just like the JRPG customer base is on the PS3 side. Medal of Honor would lose out a HUGE chunk of sales if it is PS3 exclusive.

I am a HUGE fan of WRPG, and I play WRPG intensively and almost exclusively.
However, I would not touch JRPG -- not even Final Fantasy. Not with a ten-foot pole. I played Chrono Tigger and Final Fantasy VII some ten years ago. Hated them. I tried Final Fantasy XIII in a store. Still hated it.
Which is the reason why I have no need for a Playstation -- because it has no exclusive WRPG lineup (not good one anyway) and therefore has zero appeal to me.

The RPG that has been (mostly) foundering in the Western markets is Japanese RPG.
On the other hand, Western RPG has been selling very, very well in the West (but not so much in the Japanese market.)
JRPG and WRPG are two completely different genres. They have very little in common.

It's pointless to argue which one is better -- because they both suck.
The PC version is the superior -- far far superior -- version. The metacritic score for the PC version is a full percentile higher than either the PS3 or Xbox 360 version. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are just above-average games with the scores of 87 and 86. The PC versions is an AAA-game at 92.
