Sony made the right call by setting expectations early. There's clearly not going to be any new game announcements from their 1st party studios because they've all just released a game recently or we already know what they're working on. Sony knows there are a lot of people out there expecting big announcements from their internal studios for some odd reason. This way people don't go into E3 hyped up and end up being disappointed they only showed games we knew about.

A new IP isn't happening from Guerilla. They just hit it big with Horizon. They have no reason to invest another 5+ years in developing something new.

I hope it's a PS5 game. I won't complain if it's PS4 but I'd rather see a big leap with the sequel.

Not every game needs multiple endings but games built around player choice, such as Detroit, benefits because it feels like you had a hand in tailoring the story.

That said, I'm not really a fan of games where the player needs to do extremely obtuse things in order to get the "good" ending. Things like "go to the 4th tree in the 3rd world and hit it 4 times, wait 10 seconds, then hit 2 more times and you'll hear a bell. Then keep playing until you get...

Agreed. Horizon just came out last year, there's no way they even tease a sequel this year.

It doesn't hurt the narrative at all. Unlike a traditional open world game, the map isn't littered with icons for the player to chase while staring at a mini-map. You can take the critical path without your OCD kicking in or you can go explore if that's what you feel like doing. Not to mention, the world's (incredibly interesting) lore is mostly told when you go off the beaten path and characters that you heard about during the main quests are fleshed out during these moments....

What people have to realize is that if the Xbox audience wanted Japanese games, they wouldn't solely own an Xbox. If people like Japanese games, they'd have a PS4/Switch. What that means is, even if the Xbox was flush with Japanese games, the number of hardware units sold probably wouldn't move much because those same Japanese games will be on PS4/Switch. There's still nothing drawing people to choose Xbox over a PS4/Switch.

The problem isn't a lack of ...

You can't expect MS to suddenly announce several big new exclusive IPs out of the blue. They aren't built for it yet (which is ludicrous since they've been in the industry for like 17 years). You also can't expect big 3rd party exclusives for this console either considering the money they'd be leaving on the table by not selling to the PS4 audience and MS would be stupid to overpay for an exclusive when it's not going to help them right now. They need to funnel resourc...

Same. When the core story was finally revealed, it was amazing! People who didn't like the story either don't like sci-fi in general or they didn't understand what was happening. Yeah I hate to be that guy but that's the only explanation I've got because the story was fresh, intriguing, heartbreaking, and awe-inspiring with what they (the people in the story) were able to achieve. Also the interweaving of Alloy's self discovery via the events of the past was a great wa...

Yes it's good to have games on more than one platform so more people can play them but honestly, looking at that list...none of them would do well on the XB1. They'd certainly do better than zero but anyone with any inkling of playing those games wouldn't only own an xbox and thus would probably have already played them on other platforms.

For example, someone who has an interest in Japanese games wouldn't just own an xbox. They would have had to have owned ...

During combat you can see his feet on the ground. How tight could the camera be if you can see his entire body?

Why are they assuming that the Switch and Xbox/PC games are the same? All it lists is the genre, not that they have ONE action/adventure title coming. Switch is getting a game and the Xbox/PC is getting a different one. The PS4 likely already has one of them (Monster Hunter World going to Switch) and the other is an Xbox timed/full exclusive (Dead Rising).

Not really sure why any Japanese developer would sign an exclusivitiy deal with MS when the console basically has zero audience in their home country. Sure, you get money to develop/publish the game but then what? No one is going to buy it. Secondly, I don't think MS is stupid enough to pay through the nose for an exclusive when they know it won't do anything to change their fortunes. WHICH MEANS, any JRPG they gain as an exclusive won't be worth much to begin with.

You don't need incremental updates to ensure backwards compatibility. Simply using generic off-the-shelf components ensures it. Also, evidence suggests that consumers aren't willing to pay $500 every 2 or 3 years for an incrementally updated console. PS4 Pro and X1X aren't exactly setting the marketplace on fire.

One of the most badass games ever. Too bad we won't get a sequel.

Can't agree with you there. I'd welcome Ellie being the main character in part 2 but I'm not feeling Atreus as a main. Even if they do a 10+ year time jump.

To me, God of War isn't God of War without Kratos. Maybe I'm more averse to change because I've played so many games with him as the protagonist whilst I only played as Joel in one game so I'm more open to changing it up.

Considering there are only 3 consoles on the market, MS is definitely one of them.

Never see headlines about Telltale that say "sacrifices action for narrative." I mean if Quantic Dream made games like Devil May Cry in the past and put out a game like Detroit, then you could say yes they did sacrifice action for narrative but narrative driven games are all they've made. What's wrong with having variety in the types of games we play? If you want action, there's a plethora of choices available to you.

I like rolling around in the snow and seeing patches of it all over Kratos.

Of course they're not looking out for gamers but Sony and Nintendo seem to understand that as a "game" company, they should be selling "games." MS doesn't seem to understand that. You can stuff everything including the kitchen sink into your console but if it doesn't have games, it's worthless.

MS isn't new to the business. They've had AMPLE time and money to build up a stock of first party developers and create new IPs. What have...
