Sure you're free to like any game you want but you have to be objective about it yourself. Just because I love something doesn't mean I think it's the best thing ever.
I loved Blade Runner 2049 and think it's one of the best, if not the best, sci-fi movies of the last 20 years but I wasn't under any illusion that it would win an Oscar for any category outside of the technical awards.
BC and this product have nothing to do with each other. Sure the WiiU didn't sell well, but the Wii did. You can get NES games on there and maybe SNES games? The 3DS sold incredibly well and you can get NES games there and I think SNES games on the N3DS. DS you could get NES games too, also sold extremely well.

Why did Nintendo bother to release classic NES and SNES? The games are all on the e-shop and can be played on multiple hardware. To make money of course. Buying Wild Arms on PS4 is a bit different than having a mini PS1 with a bunch of other games on it. If you don't see why that's different, than you're not Sony's (or Nintendo's) target market.

BC has nothing to do with these classic products. You can buy NES and SNES games on the WiiU and presumably on the Switch. People still went nuts for the classic consoles because they wanted mini hardware loaded with games. It's a different feeling than booting up your Switch to play the same titles.
Even if the PS4 had PS1 BC, they'd still sell a ton of these because it's a cool gadget to have.

Hey, I heard that Santa Monica Studio is mulling over possibly making a God of War 2 and Guerilla is on the fence about Horizon 2.
Not that amazing when you consider that Spider-man is an IP magnitudes bigger than Tomb Raider. It would have been amazing if it was the other way around - Tomb Raider exclusive beating Spider-man multiplat. The actual result was to be expected.
You can't expect a $20 service to match a $60 one. People shouldn't have had even moderate expectations at that price-point. Nintendo should be applauded for not over charging for a below average service. Considering their history with over-pricing all of their weaksauce hardware compared to the competition, this is a nice change of pace.
What prevents it from being the best is that it follows the tropes of every open world game right down to hacking towers, repetitive sidequests, and way too much busy-work.
It's not even game of the month, let alone game of the year.
Marvel said Spider-man games on console will remain with Sony and Insomniac for the foreseeable future. Of course Insomniac and Sony are going to go forward with a sequel. This game is going to sell 10+ million copies.
Not sure why you got a downvote. They'd obviously do Spidey 2 over any other sequel or new IP. No one is clamoring for a Sunset sequel (by no one I clearly mean not enough people to make a difference).
Also, if Insomniac owns Sunset Overdrive, why do they always say "ask Microsoft" whenever someone asks if they'd do a sequel? If they own the IP, what does MS have to do with anything for future instalments?
Not so sure about that. XVI is going to be using what they've already created with XV. They're going to milk everything they can out of that engine and assets they've created. I hope I'm wrong but I'd bet that XVI looks exactly like XV with different characters. It may even take place in the same place.
That said, if they get XV running on the Switch, XVI shouldn't be a problem.
Kind of sad when BC is the only noteworthy aspect of a $400+ console. When Sony and Nintendo are announcing exclusives left and right, MS responds with "Hey we added 10 more Xbox 360 games to the compatibility list. YAY us!"
