There is no way you need to spend 1k on a computer unless your one lazy @ss or stupid shopper. I spent $700 and I have an i5 750, 4gb ram and a 470 gtx. Sure you have to do some rebates and living near a Fry's really helps but it does not cost 1k to get a decent gaming system.

BTW a used 8800GT for $65 will probably play Borderlands maxed out. Its an unreal engine game which means the requirements are limited. Now if it can play Metro 2033 on very high flawlessly then...

Its because just about every if not all other disc-based video game system locks the disc in place while its spinning. Its just ridiculous MS still hasn't fixed this.

You guys should get King's Bounty if you like old school strategy rpgs. Excellent game.

So what exactly was so bad about the gameplay? I enjoyed the game and it was definitely a different experience hiding in the thick brush and using the cloak to ambush huge groups of enemies. Besides that it played like any other shooter. You pick a weapon, run around and shoot people. It's not an overly complex genre.

Highly doubt it. That would leave them with a giant hole in the $250 to $500 range where the 5850 and 5870 sit. I'm perfectly happy with my 5850 but I would consider getting a gtx 470 if they could find some way to lower the noise output.

Like I said a month ago when this news broke Sony is going to get sued and they will probably lose as they should. You can't just removed advertised features to protect your company 3 years later. You little kids can quote "terms of service" all you want but it boils down to losing internet access or Other OS. Both features were advertised and only one is available while both were available and advertised at time of purchase.

This is like bringing your car to the dea...

That is a good thing to learnt. If it was true.

Visiontek 5850 overclocked to 990/1190. Playing through Crysis for the first time 19x12 maxed out except for motion blur off at 50+ fps. Great game, especially considering its 3 years old. Can't wait for Crysis 2.

@1 You paid $250 for a 260 gtx a month ago? Shop around next time. I got my 5850 for less on ebay after bing cash back.

I welcome the acquisition but only because I have AMD stock. However I would definitely stop buying AMD products if it happened. Apple buying AMD would probably spell the end of cheap quad core processors for the masses.

And what was so terrible about it? Aside from the frame rate issue the game looks better and plays just as well as Mario Kart.

Yes, almost all new action games unofficially support the 360 controller. But I'm talking about the onscreen button icons during actual gameplay. For example a GFW game will display an "orange Y" icon on screen so it actually corresponds to the orange Y button on the 360 controller. However a Non-GFW game will display a generic "blue C button" icon or something. Then you have to memorize that it actually means "orange Y" button. I may be wrong but I haven't ...

@1.4 Yeah most third person action/platforming games suck with keyboard and mouse. Batman AA and Tomb Raider come to mind. That's why I would have preferred if this title was a GFW. Microsoft doesn't seem to allow companies to use the on screen 360 controller icons otherwise. It makes it a bit confusing when trying to play a game with the 360 controller which I plan to use for this game. Oh well you do get use to the mismatched button labels eventually.

gamespot.com and ign.com. Now gtfo if you don't like this site.

If they feel so bad about it then why don't they issue a partial refund to buyers? Oh I guess they don't feel THAT bad about it...

This is nothing new. This is what DLC has become. A way for companies to gouge the big fans of a particular game.

I would have to agree with him. But then again Crysis and Crysis Warhead is just as bad. Honestly, the only shooters I've played in the last 3 years and remember anything story related from are Resistance 1 and The Bad Company games(mostly for their funny characters). Everything else is just a blur of generic crap. But then again people don't play shooters for story.

It has to be the same line. So you can crossfire any 5800 series with another 5800 series and any 5700 series with another. It is recommended that you crossfire the same model though. Otherwise performance is usually equal to crossfiring the weaker link. For example crossfiring a 5870 and a 5850 has just about the same performance and crossfiring two 5850's. Board brand doesn't matter.

That's a pretty crappy system for $800.

Ewiz.com or zipzoomfly.com are pretty good as well if you live outside of California.

@1.7 Just get a reference 5850 and overclock the hell out of it. At 1000 core/1200 memory its faster then a stock 5870.
