It's weird that it's the least reliable hardware I've ever owned, but I still look back fondly on the 360. It was Xbox at it's best on all the other fronts.
I went through 5 360's. Should have known that Philippines support department on a first name basis lol. Always escaleted to their supervisors so never had to pay for the replacement thankfully, but they didn't make it easy.
MS making this part of Game Pass doesn't seem so ground breaking anymore, does it?
This is off the beaten path, but I put in for a GPD Win 2, which is a handheld Windows gaming device. That'll give me what I really wanted from the Vita, just aligned with my PC library as opposed to PSN. It's way more powerful than the switch too
Funny the exact opposite is true for me. I've been a big supporter, but this is the year I transition off. Finishing up my last few games from the backlog. If you're into JRPGs / visual novels, different story for sure...
I think Sony and the producers want digital only just as badly as MS, but Sony wasn't ready to pull the trigger yet. MS was coming off a successful high with the 360 and was too confident. It's only a matter of time until it's all digital though, you can be sure of it. They'll continue to sell us on the convenience until that freedom is gone.
Just because people comment pontificating on whether MS will make money or not doesn't mean they're concerned. Some of us find the economics interesting. It's OK, don't be concerned. No one is saying this is a crappy deal for the gamer. It's awesome.
yea, i'd guess it's probably a loss when you take gamers like me that already buy a lot, offset by maybe new xbox customers that either come over from gamefly or sony because they love this deal. that's all a net add, so they probably crunched the numbers and figured it's gonna be profitable in the end. can't wait to see how it does, and if sony feels compelled to respond
For an individual gamer, it takes 6 months at $10/month to equal the price of a new game. So it takes MS a year of that gamer's subscription to make up for the revenue lost on 2 exclusives that i would have otherwise bought outright. And, there's all those other games that i won't buy (and MS has to pay for "renting" to us).
[puts on tin foil hat] MS just needed cloud computing to combat the criticisms of XB1 during resolutiongate days. With XB1X, MS doesn't need the cloud computing smoke screen anymore [removes tin foil hat]
It's great for the gamer. I just can't tell if it's desperation or good business. I mean, if PS did that, think of all the exclusives you wouldn't have to buy. MS has less exclusives, they don't sell quite as well, so maybe there's less to lose here?
The only new thing MS is doing here is giving away the farm (albeit a small farm) in order to boost subscribers. It takes 6 months to recoup the cost of 1 game? PS won't do that because, well, they probably like making a profit.
You're probably right, but they have been hinting towards going multi-platform into other consoles. What if they just did switch and not PS? I mean, I'm not really sure how much Switch really competes with Xbox/PS directly...
Smart move supporting low spec devices. Would they be so bold to port to switch at some point?
And the team that I'm sure put countless hours and energy into making it happen.
I guess good for the Japanese titles. No chance of it getting Rocket League or anything big in the Western world unfortunately.
I know we all have our favorites, but competition is good for all of us. The more successful MS is the more Sony will innovate. I know we treat these companies like football teams sometimes, but don't wish failure for the green team. They're keeping Sony on their toes.
Sure but you gotta use something. I have a GTX 1080 that runs shadow of war ultra settings locked 2160p with framerates always north of 40fps. GOW4 ultra locked 2160 is even better, often hitting 60fps. Easily 30% better framerates when compared to DF's published numbers for XB1x. For the price xb1x is incredible though, don't get me wrong...
Funny if he said "between God of War and Spiderman"
