If you watched the E3 conference Phil didn't always specify the multiplats will only look better on the X, he said they'll be better on Xbox, sweeping the power advantage that the majority of PS4 users have over the majority of XBox owners under the rug. Not a huge deal, but the words were picked carefully, and another example of MS cleverly controlling people's perception at the expense of honesty...

If you take out the production value, the lip service (cloud, streaming, next Xbox, etc.) I think you're left with little new outside of the studio acquisitions. And it's hard to imagine a great deal more exclusives coming out of that arrangement since almost all have already been putting out Xbox console exclusives. Not a huge difference after the dust settles outside of Ninja Theory switching sides.

I think it was a great production, and instilled a lot of confidence in the brand via promises for the future. After the koolaide wears off though, there isn't much more than what we were expecting. Ninja Theory and GamePass are the biggest takeaways for me that are MS specific.

@Christopher
I agree... Seems to me acquiring studios that were previously just putting out Xbox titles cause MS payed them to do so is a difference mostly in semantics. Same guys, same output.

More like democracy than anarchy. Let the public decide what's good, while letting the little guys get their games published. Different model than the consoles, but so what.

Can't wait to hear "WORLD EXCLUSIVE" voiced by the Halo craptastic dude 15 times tonight... 😏

I'm just hoping for a surprise or two.

"To me that feels more like a marketing tactic for someone who is very far behind its competition rather than a coherent vision for the future."
I think that's what's really going on. You can't take Phil Spinster too seriously. Minecraft has a different history, but MS isn't stupid - they're not going to release Forza on PlayStation.

I think it's incredible they Sony had the foresight to build motion capability into their controllers day 1 AND make VR work well on base (non-pro) PS4s. Hats off to them

I've got to think most Xbox fans aren't nearly as involved in gaming news and keeping counts of exclusives like we do. Your average Xbox gamer will see the tons of MS advertising for third party games and the few exclusives they have and will think things are going great. Hard for me to know for sure, I'm just guessing...

Nice summary. I also think that the fact that our big AAA games that we spend so much time on hardly ever come with VR modes hurts a lot too.

Some original predictions here. GTA5 on Switch would be huge... Wonder if it has the balls to run a game like that...

Yea apple won't have Mario, Zelda, etc. But the expectation is that for Nintendo to keep this momentum they need big 3rd parties. More Rocket League's and hopefully soon, Fortnite's. I don't know about other countries, but in the US, Apple is huge especially with kids. They play more free trashey games than I can shake a stick at, and sit through painful ads. Not my taste, but i can't argue the trends...

This is article is embarrassing. Whenever a journalist refers to a company and states things like "Valve thinks" this or that, you know there's a problem. I've read the PR from Valve on why they further democratized the publishing process when they got rid of Greenlight, and while I can't read a company's thoughts, the explanation was principled and makes sense. Let the public decide what's popular with a rating system and empower everyone to publish a game. That...

I'd only take the first one seriously: MS buying a publisher. I can definitely see why they would want Valve.

Nintendo doesn't have to worry about ASUS. But if Apple ever decided to build in controllers on their iOS devices and attack gaming Nintendo could have a problem...

I hope by "render scale" of 50% they mean 50% of 4k, not 1080p. I love the game but it kinda looks like dog crap on the consoles, I don't think they render at 1080p.

That's the real competition for Switch and Vita. My opinion, if Apple released an iPad with a decent built in controller, it would wreck the Switch and any hope for a Vita2

No screen is an interesting option. Although I think the controller is an important part of the experience, and by the time you have the headless PS4 (size of a brick at least), your tablet, and a DS4, youve got a lot to carry
