Yes, but when it was originally announced, it was with the caveat that it would only be an interim product until the full GT7 was ready. But the comments Kaz has been making more recently are making it sound like this is what the franchise will be from now on and that there will never be a GT7.
Then Sony may need to do an intervention, because a GT7 in the spirit of previous installments of the GT series is what many (if not most) of the fans of this series wants.
I think Sony needs to do an intervention. I think Kaz has become too much of a perfectionist and the GT franchise is being destroyed as a result. If Sony can't, I think they need to find or create another racing title exclusive. Otherwise, this could really hurt the Playstation brand in the long run. I bought a PS4 with the main purpose of eventually playing GT7 on it, and now, it's looking like that may never happen. At this point, I'm seriously considering buying a XB1 in t...
It's looking more and more like there may never be a GT7.
Sadly, it looks like there may not be a GT7.
I think it was already announced for 2019

Sounds good - looking forward to October!
A lot of people got burned by RROD during the 360 era which left a bad taste in the mouths of many that weren't exactly eager to repeat that kind of frustration. I personally didn't get burned because I held off buying until MS finally solved the RROD issue for good. That being said, the 360 I did finally buy droned loudly every time I turned it on like a cheap early 90s PC clone, whereas my PS3 was always whisper quiet. So other than playing Forza, I didn't use it that much. ...
Clickbait alert!
Just buy a game controller for your smartphone. A lot more games available for Android & iOS.
Doubt it will be "soon". PS4 debuted in 2013, and PS3 was still widely available thru the end of 2016. I bought a brand new 500GB PS3 last November from Walmart for $149. :-)
Anything is possible, but I think "disrupt" is too strong a term. If it's similar to Nvidia Shield at a more competitive price point, it could do halfway well, especially over the holiday season. If it's essentially a gaming PC, it's likely to cost more than any of the current consoles, which will limit its appeal. Not saying it won't sell, but the numbers in that scenario are likely to be fairly low.
It's about managing money well. You're right - I don't know you're friend, but I hope for his sake he hopes for a better life. I'm certainly not trying to put words in your mouth - I was simply expressing my hopes for your friend. As you said, simply my opinion, nothing more. I'm not saying it's life or death - but this is the trap too many fall into. Waste a bit of money here, some more over there, all the while, failing to invest for their future. Before th...
Actually, I'm trying to be rational about this. Maybe you just want to argue for the sake of arguing, or maybe you really don't understand the point(s) I'm trying to make. I wasn't trying to say anyone "needed" to be a millionaire to buy the XB1X, but realistically, it's a product that's best suited for those that have more money than they know what to do with. Your friend may be able to buy an XB1X, but is that really the best use of his funds if he's...
I'm not sure what part of my last response confused you. Point I was trying to make was that paying double for something that's only slightly better is pretty foolish for most. If you're a millionaire and your future financial security is guaranteed and you have more money than you know what to do with, then sure, feel free to spend it as carelessly as you want. But most people aren't in that boat - most are getting by, but not with a lot of room to spare. So for the vast ...
I'm not saying it won't sell at all - a sucker is born every minute. I guess it depends on what you define as "fine". Time will tell. Smarter consumers who have lives and life goals and want or need to spend money on other things or invest for their futures will avoid XB1X and stick with the standard XB1, especially considering how soon XB2 will be debuting. And although I think PS4 Pro would also be a bit of a waste of money, it's only $100 more than the standard PS...
And therein lies the issue with XB1X - it's literally twice the cost of the standard XB1. It may have impressive sounding specs, but in terms of the actual gaming experience, most gamers won't really see a noticeable difference compared to what the standard XB1 delivers. And in all likelihood, XB2 will probably debut in 2019 at the same time as PS5, and the XB2 will presumably have better specs than XB1X.

From the article:
"After all, that has always been the end goal of this racing simulator, right? For you, the player, to transition into a real race driver."
NO! HELL NO! Not for most of us. If I wanted to be a real race driver and accept those risks, I would pursue that career! I think most of us simply want to have an enjoyable virtual driving/racing experience in the comfort of our homes without unnecessary risks to life and limb and bank accounts....
