Besides buying cars, can credits be used to upgrade stock production vehicles, or are there no upgrades available?

Agreed. I'm going to try the demo, but there's a good chance I won't be buying. I'm actually saving up to buy a X1S over Black Friday-Cyber Monday to give Forza a try.

Wouldn't that be NFS Payback?

Asking which racing SIM is a loaded question to begin with. Many can argue endlessly whether a certain game qualifies as a "sim". I think the more important and relevant question is simply which racing game will be the most successful this year.

I thought Project Cars 2 was a dud. Lots of issues out of the box and I traded it in quickly. Granted, I was using a controller - those with wheels may have better luck with it, but reviews have been decidedly mixed at...

The U.S. is having an epidemic of mental illness, a big part of it being the addiction to greed/gluttony. We need better leaders who are more grounded and selfless, that stress what's good for community and the society at large.

Not a smart buy for consumers. If you don't have a XB1, you'd be better off buying the S during Black Friday-Cyber Monday for $200 or less, especially since XB2 will likely be out in 2019.

The single player "campaign" is basically just a series of driver missions and tests - no actual races. This is basically going to be a hollow shell of a game. Given its heritage as a great single player experience, this is a huge slap in the face to longtime fans like me. I'm going to be buying a X1S over Black Friday-Cyber Monday so I can play a decent single player campaign like they still have in the Forza series.

Realistically, they look pretty comparable. Gameplay is going to be the critical difference. I'm a longtime GT fan, but with GT essentially abandoning single player campaign, I would have to say that Forza will be the more engaging experience for most now. Forza will have a lot more cars and will also give you the option to give those cars performance upgrades. The GT of the past (at least for now) appears to essentially be dead in Sport. Let's hope the features of past GT titles...

It doesn't really have a single player career mode to speak of, and I don't think it will give you the option of performance upgrades either. It's basically online multiplayer with standard street and race cars, and that's about it. If you're a fan of GT titles of the past, this could be a huge disappointment.

How 'bout some love for the U.S. Sony!

Yeah, honestly the X is a waste of money for most, but most of the people that will buy it don't understand that. Unfortunately, many (if not most) of these folks will keep throwing money away needlessly throughout their entire lives and putting little (if anything) away for retirement, then reach retirement age not able to afford to retire. I'll be getting a X1S myself over Black Friday-Cyber Monday, and getting it for $200 or less. ;-)

When I pick up a XB1 in a couple of months, this will be one of my first purchases (assuming it doesn't come bundled with the console).

Regardless of what that reviewer thought, the important things to me is that it has a single player campaign, a large roster of cars and the cars can be upgraded. I won't be picking up my XB1 for a couple of months, but when I do, this will be one of my first purchases (assuming it doesn't come bundled with the console).

Won't have an XB1 until November, but looking forward to playing this along with Horizon 3 when I do.

Demos still give you an indication of the quality of the game.

That seemed less like an article and more like paid advertising. As I've commented before, XB2 will most likely be out in 2019, so if you want to be smart with your money, don't throw it away on X1X.

Save your money for a couple of years - XB2 will most likely be out in 2019.

Definitely sterile - good descriptor.

It seems like most critics tend to give overly high marks on most reviews. Look at user reviews on retailer sites - that should give you a better picture. Out of the box, it's a bit of a mess (requires a 13 gigabyte patch right off the bat). Default controller settings are way off - had to find suggested settings online to make it halfway reasonable. Decent selection of tracks, but not a lot of cars - mostly full bore race cars; very few street cars. No performance upgrades and only ...
