Interesting. It could just be a bad choice of what exactly to demo or a bad portent of things to come. Far from kinks, the game could be boring. However, I highly doubt that. RDR & GTA5 both had their 'boring' parts, but that's par for the course in any game.
That's a good thing I suppose. While God of War has certainly been made better as a result of the change, it may not work for every game. Devil May Cry has always been stupid, silly, fun and keeping it that way has certainly worked out, if my hands-on at Gamescom is anything to go by.
A CS professional player for fine-tuning accuracy is okay, sure, but surely the people who actually develop and fine-tune games themselves would be a better choice?
Still, from what I saw of Cyberpunk 2077 at Gamescom, I'm genuinely thinking it will be brilliant even at this early stage.
Well having seen it live during the nVidia event, it did look fantastic. Even the games that implemented it did seem to look utterly brilliant. Standard in a few console generations sounds pretty feasible, so long as the cards required for it get low enough in price.
It's a high statement, one that will have to be seen to be believed really. It is true what they say though, once you are chasing a trend you're already behind. It's rare that you see a game that comes second or third actually be the top of the pile.
I can certainly understand the notion that a game that is in part RPG gives a better connection to the game - in theory. Certainly developing a character your way can increase investment in it, but at the same time, a character that is written well and has a great narrative arc can also increase that connection.
This is true in some cases, but not always.
Look at Final Fantasy XV, that was in development (including it's time as Versus XIII) for ten years. Diablo 3 was in development 11 years - at core a good game that was hampered by crap money-making tactics.Team Fortress 2 for 9 years. Mother 3 was in development for 12 years.
Though there are always examples of games that suffered. Duke Nukem Forever, Too Human, etc.
If the game is as good as Spiderman 2 was, or even better, then I can't imagine Insomniac not being at that level. I'm genuinely looking forward to the game, which is a bit of a rarity to me - become a bit too jaded lately.
It's an idea, but I'm not sure how close he is to the truth. I think the console is here to stay, at least for another 20 or so years, if only as a result of the net infrastructure around the world. Once that has developed to a great point and everybody has easy, superfast connections, maybe everything will be streamed and digital.
While I agree that, in the long run, consumers don't care how long the game took to make - there's an undeniable effect that the length of development can have on the hype of a game and expectations of it.
Well, I'm hoping it isn't going to be one of those where somebody starts slamming the game because of any political views CD Projekt put across in the game. There is bound to be somebody who is offended that somebody happens to have a different opinion than themselves.
Of course, a lot of it is likely to be open and let you choose yourself, but even with political decisions, there is a (moral) right and wrong. This will likely be reflected in the game and get on som...
Interesting that communication broke down with Sony, though it doesn't exactly say why or how. It's a big shame about the lack of cross-platform on multiplayer too.
Will be interesting to see exactly how these predictions are compared to the actual numbers. CoD I actually think they're over-estimating - the series has been on a downward trend and from the figures I saw, CoD WWII sold 12 million in the calendar year ending December 17. That would actually mean Black Ops IV (i refuse to call it IIII) will be selling close to double in the same time period.
I wouldn't be surprised about Red Dead though. Anthem, decent figures for ...
This freedom will be very interesting, particularly the use of different languages and how your paths will impact on the character and story as a whole.
Andromeda was pretty average, yeah. Maybe even bordering on decent. However, it was always marred due to the fact it was "Mass Effect". Not only that, it was hamstrung from the start by being forced into using frostbite and so many other aspects. But it's certainly true that it was vastly outclassed.
I'd have to agree with that. Sony does have a much broader set of games than the other parties.
As is said about every other game before it comes out. We'll see, I can't say I'm going to hold my breath over Anthem. Though EA may have learned their lesson and actually push for a good game that's good for the gamer this time. Only this time though!
The argument is fairly invalid to say he is anyway. Games have been using big named actors for ages. For me, part of his selection is actually based on either friendship or lost opportunities. Hideo has had cancelled projects with both Normal Reedus and Guillermo Del Toro. As he also says, he wants people he likes working with and some of the top actors/directors do have a good idea over positioning and pacing, at least when it comes to the cutscene part of things.
I still ...
It's certainly an interesting way to work through it and does seem to work, making sure the story and narrative is as they want it before worrying about the rest at all. Makes sense for a story driven game too.
Utter tosh about the new IP thing though. Great new IP's are being released all the time. Sure, it will be harder, harder but Eidos Montreal have never actually made a new IP so it's hard to really imagine them having any knowledge about it.
Understandably would give them confidence. Witcher 3 was an outstanding game and would propel anybody. I imagine Cyberpunk 2077 will have issues running on current gen consoles really, the insane nature of what has been shown can only really be achieved on a top-end gaming rig. There will end up being cries from the audience of the game being made to look a lot worse, etc.
