Games do not cost more than movies to make so since I just enjoyed Blade Runner 2049 for $15 in 3D, why should I be expected to pay more than $60 for a game? Just because I spend more time using the product? No, not happening and I am not missing out because the games implementing these practices are empty themed slot machines at best.

God I love this game! Not since the Witcher 3 have I loved a game this much! Larian has been bringing these massive patches like crazy and the game was already very polished on Day 1. I bought all the extra stuff just to support them (and would buy more if possible) because this is exactly how to give gamers value.

Shhhh can't show anyone you haven't had any Kool-aid or you will not be accepted into the cool kids club. So far all these games with loot crates grabbing our attention were the games pushed at MS's E3 stage show - partnerships or demoed on the xbonex. Hmmmmmm.

This game in particular is a LotR skinned slot machine abomination.

Tolkien is face palming right now.

Hate begets hate. Political left, right, upside-down, right side up extremists always lead to the same result: us getting screwed. Perhaps wise philosophers were on to something when they said to "Find balance".

Except Nazis. Everyone can hate Nazis.

They lost me as a PC buyer. I was excited after the beta, so I picked up the PS4 standard edition (no preorder of course) and I finished the raid once; that was all I cared to play. The game goes no place no matter how much time you spend grinding (which I was willing to accept if they gave something back).

They repeatedly keep trying to brute force us into micro transactions and season passes, so they lost another long term customer which means they aren't getting a...

We were fooled again by Destiny marketing - though must of us were expecting this. When are we going to learn that the AAA Mafia marketers want us to spend money on their .0000000001% winning lotto tickets, gambling away for consumables and gear loot microtransactions and buying up the season passes. The low rate of winning in loot boxes effectively makes the prices of desired in-game assets cost 5x as much vs direct purchase.

Once I played through the strikes a few times a...

Glad I did not preorder. PR is good at making people believe that EA was suddenly being oh so very humble so please preorder, apologizing for their prior abomination so please preorder, and handing out keys to ice cream land so please preorder. There's always a catch and nothing is free in this world. Why is this so hard for us to remember after a flashy game presentation?

And so I'll be joining you in this being another game I am not buying.

I...

Yup. WB and MS, and other publishers, are massive and gaming-only sites surviving on their ad money are scared to get the 2k treatment and risk being cut off from daddy's credit card so they gave these games 9s by separating important elements of the game from the review to fool gamers, i.e. the money needed to unlock all the content to "save time" (aka paid cheat codes) - ultimately perverting the review scores higher. Microtransactions are not separate from the game. Though ...

You guys need to read you some Ubik. Philip K Dick predicted microtransactions.

Personally I was thinking about what companies would hit next with monetization, once MTs are successfully established as a dependable revenue stream on games. Maybe movies? We all do carry a smartphone so why not? Just like we are already online with our gaming systems, it will be just as easy. Or how about every time you use your computer, replay a video, a song, a game, open your fridge?...

D:OS2 or HZD will be GOTY - at least for me.

Seems like a more realistic review for once from them relative to the obvious publisher pleasing reviews. Reviews should provide consumers with the information to know if the product is WORTH its pricing - remember that pesky word "value". They should reflect the entire game as a whole, including scrutinizing the means by which a game's full content/enjoyment is obtained. Gamers easily fooled by marketers love defending that microtransactions should be separate from game revie...

Not if Capcom brings value and sticks to their word - unlike some publishers out there pulling the rug from everyone after E3.

Not McCarthyism when publishers have already provided us many games since the beginning of this gen with the proof of their predatory monetization.

Monetization over innovation. You choose poorly.

Reviews should reflect total value. If a game were released at a very high price point going into the hundred of dollars (which is what house-favored microtransactions gambling effectively accomplishes) then it should be reflected in the score.

Agreed. IGN's Peer Schneider told Kinda Funny that IGN was unsustainable being financed on user subscription model - until ads came. Sponsored, ad financed sites are always going to show favor to those companies providing their advertising money. It would be antithetical for a company to continue to pay for ads, when their products are not represented favorably since marketing itself is the effort towards creating a positive perception of a product. Disclosures are also not required w...
