This is the result of the loot box GAMBLING infection and the $96bil the GAMBLING pulls in. EA has closed so many of my favorite studios and will not stop until they devour the industry.
They are just IP License Trolls who cannibalize studios/indie teams just to push their IP themed GaaS emptiness and further their $96bil in their pockets.
EA doesn't make games anymore anyways. So long EA execs and shareholders! I've ...

This is great! I love Nintendo games, so it is incredible news that they are getting some 3rd party success. I don't care what anyone says, the Wii U had some the most incredible and perfectly smooth running games every made - many running rock solid 60fps. If Nintendo systems can do it, then others can, but it's much easier to sell Ubisoft-like bullshots to idiots.
What's there left to talk about? They are destroying gaming. That's it. Studios like Visceral are being closed off as is their games in a dramatic shift of efforts to push all resources towards more IP themed pachinko GaaS and loot gambling platforms while predatory publishers like EA continue to suck every ounce of life from and the industry. Greed and monetization kill art.
We need to thank the thousands of insane little fangirls in need of hugs from publisher...
I understand the Forbesa themed slot machine fanatics backlashing due to the superior competition of GTS, which is also a full game at a much cheaper cost.
Also, I thought xboners didn't care about graphics? Oh wait until Daddy Phil said 4k @ medium PC settings was the next thing right?

Most talented creatives/STEM pros dont stay in the gaming industry unless highly compelled to do so unfortunately. These are people with advanced careers and/or degrees so once they get beat up by the EAs, Ubisofts, Activisions, MSs, and other a-hole companies it is difficult to justify staying when there are tons of non-gaming companies ready and willing to treat employees like gold.
This industry is so full of viciousness when it comes to treating people with respect it&...
Sony isn't competing with themselves by supporting PC. Windows is an open platform so MS doesnt receive profits on programs sold on the platform unless purchased directly from a MS marketplace.
This is why MS made the Xbox to begin with (a slice of the pie since many devs were already using DirectX APIs), and also why MS pushes efforts every once in while on PC with DRM checking platforms like GoWL or UWP - usually only when they are in need some extra cash. Not becau...
GTS though? A top teir racing game with no monetization scheming and packed to the rim with high quality racing and content; it's a full game on Day 1. Feel the same about PC2 also.
Lets Spartan Kick these IP themed pachinko gambling platforms out of the AAA neighborhood!
Yup, there's that $96bil at work to bring us nothing but the highest quality and refinement. Why do we pay out 3x as much to big publishers again? Oh yeah they need new yachts and vacation homes. No need to make better games or game engines when we shower them with cash eh?
I already bought it, but I am curious about this score as well as Open Critic's after a week has passed. Game reviews should always include pricing models and since there is no predatory gambling monetization and it is a full game on DAY 1, this game earns a few points in my scale in terms of the value of the entire package.
Great game and buy imo. Btw 85 is an excellent aggregate score.
I love CDPR, but if they are mistreating employees, then I will not support them. They will just be another EA in my eyes. We need proof though.
I will say that I've worked in tech "sweat shops" before in my early grad days where you had better drink the Company Culture Kool-Aid without the slightest utterance of constructive criticism. The near slave labor environments are real and challenging them means you cant feed your family. The best talent just stay...
It's a bubble. The GaaS model is unsustainable because it is in fact NOT the Netflix-like structure that Spencer has been campaigning. The 83 crash was caused by low quality, high priced saturation, which is where we are at again.
Though we have shifts back and forth in terms of quality because of the bit of vocal resistance that does exist (resulting in games like D2 and SWBF2), the reality is that these companies are not trying to compromise, but seeking a method fo...
We've been beating this horse here the last few weeks and we are all very passionate about our positions because we all love our games. This ESRB response has already been thoroughly debated here, and unless new industry data has been introduced, I don't see the point of arguing this out again. If there is new data, then I stand humbled and will listen to fellow commenters, but otherwise I will not dignify this article with a click.
This is fascinating to me: that part of the game should somehow not be counted as part of the game for reviews. I think the AAA Mafia (you know MS, EA, 2k, Ubisoft, and Activision - I know I am missing a few) marketing and PR have done a number on the feeble minds of fanatics. Reviews should include everything, not just the nice warm and fuzzy parts.
So many videos show Forbesa 7 completely missing FUNCTIONAL parts of the game (some missing parts fully acknowledged to be ...
This is why all the out of pocket costs in reviews matter.
The current PC cost is a flat $45 with no monetization (currently on GoG + DRM-free of course). Some people may think the asking price of the game is very much worth it.
Some reviewers are saying wait for a sale, even less than $45, and others seem to know what to expect in a Piranha Bytes game and are saying to buy it given its budget and asking price.
Though the beefy budget is attractive and while I do feel for the devs for wanting the big publisher resources so they can admirably make their vision a reality, investors in any form are always riskier than having the cojones to generate your own funding independantly and make products on your own like CDPR, Larian, or Ninja Theory. Publishers are a faster track than independent funding.
Visual quality may take a hit, and it may take some time to reach their full potentia...

Can't wait for Mario and M4!

Bye Visceral, you will be missed.
Yeah same. Big publishers are just going to focus on multiplayer, microtransaction-packed games now.

I troll loot gambling games. Damn them all.

My sentiments exactly.

Does it include the other 3/4 of the game?

This is sure to trigger publisher fanatics. Good. Time for gamers to get their purchasing power back.
