Valorant Agent 24: Iso
Iso isn’t just any regular addition to Valorant’s lineup; he comes with a unique backstory. Originating from China, Iso marks his entry as the seventh Duelist to grace the game. Riot had previously teased this new addition during Episode 7, where John Goscicki, the Character Producer for Valorant, hinted at the Agent’s class and gave players a glimpse into the team’s vision for Iso.
Emphasizing Valorant’s foundation as a tactical shooter centered around gunplay, Goscicki’s dev blog hinted at a twist in Iso’s gameplay mechanics that many “never thought would make it into Valorant.”
Valorant Agent Iso: Abilities
Distinct from other Duelists in Valorant, Iso brings to the table a set of abilities focused on direct combat, aiding him in seeking out 1-on-1 confrontations. Notably, he stands out as the first Agent equipped with a shield-like mechanism.
- Contingency (C): Equip to assemble prismatic energy. Fire to push an indestructible wall of energy forward that blocks bullets.
- Undercut (Q): Equip a molecular bolt. Fire to throw it forward, applying a brief FRAGILE to all players it touches. The bolt can pass through solid objects, including walls.
- Double Tap (E): Start a focus timer. Once completed, enter a flow state during which downed enemies you kill or damage generate an energy orb. Shooting this orb grants you a shield that absorbs one instance of damage from any source.
- Kill Contract (X): Equip an interdimensional arena. Fire to hurl a column of energy through the battlefield, pulling you and the first enemy hit into the arena. You and your opponent duel to the death.
Valorant Agent Iso: Release Date
Eager fans won’t have to wait long. According to his cinematic trailer, Iso will make his grand entrance with the inception of Valorant Episode 7 Act 3, slated for October 31, 2023.
While the developers had kept fans on their toes by only hinting at a 2023 release, they have now confirmed the exact date of his debut.
With the introduction of Iso, Valorant continues to expand its horizon, offering players diverse gameplay experiences with each new agent. It remains to be seen how Iso will reshape the meta and how players will adapt to and employ his unique abilities on the battlefield.
