Is Starfield on Xbox One consoles? Bethesda’s ambitious space exploration game Starfield is set to wow players with the first new franchise from the Elder Scrolls and Fallout studio in a very long time. Let’s deep-dive into whether this space RPG will be coming to Last Gen consoles
The huge game, which has been in development for at least seven years, promises more than 1000 planets to explore in one of the largest games of its kind ever created. The good news is that the Starfield system requirements are actually not too crippling, with the game apparently able to run well on older hardware. But is it the same case for console? Here’s everything you need to know.
Will Starfield Be On the last-gen Xbox One?
Unfortunately, it does not look like Starfield is coming to the last-gen console such as the last-generation Xbox. According to a blog post back in 2021, Xbox wrote: “Some games launching next year from our first party studios and partners, such as Starfield, Redfall, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 require the speed, performance, and technology of Xbox Series X|S. We’re excited to see developers realize their visions in ways that only next-gen hardware will allow them to do.”
This, whilst not explicitly saying the game will not be coming to last gen, heavily implies it won’t be making an appearance because the hardware is likely not powerful enough to run the game optimally. There is a hint, though, that the game could be in line to be streamed via the last gen console giving all players the chance to play Starfield.
The blog reads: “For the millions of people who play on Xbox One consoles today, we are looking forward to sharing more about how we will bring many of these next-gen games, such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, to your console through Xbox Cloud Gaming, just like we do with mobile devices, tablets, and browsers.”
This would require subscribing to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and streaming the game via the cloud to the console, which would be a smart move but an awkward workaround to explore the galaxy that Bethesda game studios have to offer. However, we will need to wait until more details surface here. It’s also worth stating that Starfield will not be coming out on the last-gen PS4, or the PS5 for that matter, as it is a Microsoft exclusive. It also won’t be coming to the Nintendo Switch.
Is Starfield On Xbox Series X|S?
Starfield will be available on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Players who pre-order the Premium Edition will be able to play it first five days earlier on September 1. These are the only two consoles that players will be able to insert a disc and play the game on.
Is Starfield On Xbox Game Pass?
Starfield will be available to play through Xbox Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass subscribers for console, PC, and Ultimate will have access to the Standard Edition of the game and have the ability to immediately explore humanity’s greatest mystery in the solar system. There is a Premium Edition Upgrade and Constellation edition that members can purchase to play the game five days earlier alongside receiving other in-game bonuses.
