The most democratic holiday has come and gone. Players had an opportunity to enjoy a full day of carefully planned activities and bond over their memories of spreading Managed Democracy. Of course, as with any bigger celebration, it got rowdy at some point. Some Helldivers 2 players spread undemocratic conspiracy theories, while others claimed the black hole seemed different on Liberty Day. Now, did these players have too much Liber-tea, or has something actually changed?
Some Helldivers Reported the Black Hole Changed on Liberty Day
As you know, the expectations for Liberty Day were humongous. Players wanted to see something huge happen, like the arrival of the Illuminate. If you’ve been around for a while, you probably remember that once Meridia was destroyed, the black hole was created, and the community was sure the so-called Squids would come through it. It’s been months, and players occasionally visit the black hole to admire its beauty and enjoy a few calm moments before returning to the front.
Well, the black hole was a popular destination on Liberty Day, as well. Whether the players wanted to pay respect to all the fallen Helldivers, or just have a cup of Liber-tea while staring into the abyss, many players came by. If you’ve been on any social media recently, you probably noticed numerous reports of bizarre changes with the black hole.
BroccoliDependent543 noted: ” New update on the black hole: The whale sounds are more frequent and louder and the ship’s hull is taking a lot of strain. I was using my 2-minute break (the one we earned when we first destroyed Meridia) and the whale sounds and the hull frowning sounds are in fact more frequent and louder. Prepare for imminent disaster fellow divers”.
Another player, LucidDreamerAnon, reported: “It feels like the blackhole is beginning to become more and more active. I went to it to see for myself, and sure enough, I’m getting a bit worried about it. It’s a lot louder, and there are noises that I don’t think should be coming from it. They sound… unnatural, organic, alien”.
Furthermore, several players noticed that the black hole seemed smaller. Some players even offered photographic evidence. However, the images weren’t taken from the same spot so it’s hard to tell if the black hole shrunk.
The Majority of Helldivers Didn’t See Any Changes
We visited the black hole on Liberty Day to pay respect to fallen divers, and we don’t think there’s anything Helldivers 2 players should be worried about. At least as of the time of writing this article. Unless our eyes and ears were lying to us, nothing changed about the black hole.
Many devoted Helldivers confirmed this. CommanderChaos17_ reported: “Meridia is not smaller. The black hole is the same exact size as it was when it formed. Stop spreading misinformation. Odds are the Illuminate if they come at all will be after the DSS and the Gloom are taken care of“.
NumerousSun4282 added: “It’s blind hype to assume the third faction is being released today. They’re coming, they’re in the game files. They’re just not coming today”. Other players agreed that although the eerie sounds coming from the black hole were ominous, they hadn’t changed since its creation.
So, it looks like the Illuminate won’t arrive just yet. However, Helldivers have a new Warbond to look forward to. And, who knows, maybe the Squids will join soon after, so better prepare yourself. For Liberty and Super Earth.
