In TFD, you can find a lot of different items during your adventures. They are mostly resources, Blueprints, or equipment (like Weapons, Reactors or External Components). You can also come across some more exotic ones (like High-Value Targets). But sometimes, an item surfaces with no apparent purpose. Some inquisitive The First Descendant players managed to dig up a mysterious item in the game’s menus, called Quantum Incubator, that no one has and are now discussing its purpose.

Players Discuss the Quantum Incubator in The First Descendant

More and more players started posting that they found a mysterious item in the Access Info menu that no one currently possesses. If you go to the Access Info menu, and select the Not Owned filter, you will see an item called Quantum Incubator (looking like a sci-fi lantern). Currently, it serves no purpose in the game and no one has it. The players got together on Reddit and started speculating about what it was for.

The Supposed Purpose of the Quantum Incubator in The First Descendant

While there is no guarantee, the majority thinks that the Quantum Incubator is the item for the upcoming “pets”. “Most likely for pets or something next season,” said Curious_Context_7606, and “Yeah, based on the roadmap at least. What other can this “Utility Companion” be if not a pet?” agreed Blastie89. These are just some of the many comments agreeing that Quantum Incubator has to do something with the upcoming Utility Companions.

For the record, on the TFD roadmap that Nexon posted a while back, the Utility Companion is listed as a new feature coming in Season 2: Ancestor. It makes a lot of sense that this Companion will be a pet-like feature. Warframe, a game that heavily inspired The First Descendant, has a similar mechanic, so it would make a lot of sense if Quantum Incubators have something to do with pets. Of course, this is all speculation at this point, so take this with a bit of salt.
