Whether you prefer the Terminids or the Automatons, you probably wish for another faction. After a while, killing Bile Titans and Chargers, or Hulks and Devastators can become tiresome. Sure, it’s fun, but players wish for something more adrenaline-inducing. Obviously, after blowing up Meridia, and creating the black hole, the rumors started going around that maybe the Illuminate would make an appearance in the game. Now, a new topic arose, the Helldivers 2 players are hoping the developers will hear out their ideas for a new enemy faction.

Is There a Chance for the Players to Get Another Enemy Faction?

According to NobodyDudee: “The map was split into 4 parts in beta, so who knows”. So, that might mean that there could be enough space for the Illuminate and even another faction. Excited players suggested their ideas, and some of them were simply phenomenal.

Most players agreed that a human faction would be an interesting addition. OreganoCrackYT suggested: “Do you think apart from the Illuminate AH should add a 4th faction composed entirely by SEAF defectors? I think it would be really interesting to fight against an army of traitors. And maybe, the elite enemy type of that faction could be a Helldiver”.
Kumanda_Ordo added: “I think a faction of human rebels has the potential to be really good. In my mind, they should be a predominately ranged faction and have some armored stuff, so similar to bots in some respects. But one of the main things to set them apart would be that they behave in ways that attempt to preserve their lives more. They aren’t soulless machines who are ready to rush into our positions. They want to win, but they want to live to see that victory”.

Well, it turns out, we all should have brushed up on the lore. Worldly-Pay7342 reminded the community: “The automatons are descendants/creations of the cyborgs from HD1, who are a group of humans who went rogue. So yes, the automatons do indeed fill the role for both the humanoid and traitor factions”.

Many Helldivers Approved The Ideas for a New Faction

Of course, many players had other cool ideas. WagnerLeung0079 proposed: “Hunting down Na’vi-ish (from the movie Avatar) Predator (from the movie Predator) mission in a forest planet would be a fun addition without programming and balancing a whole new faction of enemies”. Another player, usernameslikm, added: “Honestly I wouldn’t mind some kind of “primitive faction” even if it’s something as simple as some planets just getting hostile wildlife I think would make a great addition”.

Another popular demand was for dinosaurs, or reptiles in general. Ancient-Ad5654 came up with the whole origin story: “These dinos come from a distant planet in another galaxy. Unlike the Terminids, they can’t spread on their own, so they aren’t an immediate threat to managed democracy. However, this could change with the help of the Illuminates”.

A zombie / infected faction was also at the top of the list. PapaMi0 said: “I want to see an infection faction after the Illuminates. Something like twisted and horrible mutated humans, or better – amalgams of steel and human-alien flesh. a techno-virus or so from 90th films”.

Our favorite idea came from juzz_fuzz. They suggested: “I had an idea for a plant-based faction, with tanglers (small crawling plants that can latch on and pin you in position), poison dart shooters (immobile), Venus Helldiver traps, ent-like heavy units that can pick up and throw rocks at you like a football as well as a variant that throws looted SEAF artillery shells. Also, trees that spawn units and bigger trees that can fling a patrol onto the map like artillery”.

The Helldivers 2 devs might want to take a look at these ideas when picking the new enemy faction. We have to admit we’d gladly fight any of these. Until then, we are looking forward to facing the Illuminate. For Super Earth!
