On May 26, Helldivers worldwide rejoiced as they completed a Major Order. They managed to liberate Varylia 5. This victory is even sweeter after the defeat on Vernen Wells and the failure of the previous Major Order. As a prize for winning against Automations, the Helldivers 2 players got a brand new mech – the Emancipator Exosuit.
Fans in Awe Over the Exciting New Mech
Official Helldivers 2 account on X shared the news: “Varylia 5 has been liberated! Today marks a day of celebration as the newly acquired Emancipator Exosuit is immediately rushed out for distribution to all Helldivers”. Given that until now the only available mech was the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit, we understand all the hype around the new one!
An interesting fact is that this mech’s design was leaked more than a month ago. A Redditor, Emptynesz, posted a short test video, showing off the Exosuit and what it could do. They also shared that the cooldown time would be 600 seconds and it could be used twice per mission. At the time, the leak caused an uproar among Helldivers who could hardly wait for this “pretty tanky mech with dual-autocannon”.
Now, the EXO-49 Emancipator Exosuit has finally arrived. The reviews are, as always, mixed. Gold_Pay_2297 noticed: “It’s barely out and people are already complaining. In my opinion, this thing is f**king sick! It’s so fun to use! I thought everybody else would feel the same, but then I made the mistake of opening Reddit. I don’t get why people are complaining”.
A player, gamingfreak50, added: “Yeah if you run the numbers it doesn’t look great but the thing can toast Hulks in seconds with concentrated fire on its eye and devastators just well enough. Don’t be afraid to hold down the fire button sometimes, it’s not a tinder box like the OG Patriot. I have been running 7-8 and it does what it’s meant to do. now to get downvoted into oblivion”.
The Exosuit Leaves Some Asking for More
Of course, there were plenty of negative reviews as well. Page8988 said: “I had said it was probably going to be crap. Arrowhead may have announced changes, but nothing has come into effect yet. This was made under the “Bring in the nerfs” balance administration. There was no way it was going to be worth the effort”.
Another fan, feralamalgamation, listed all the flaws. They said: “10-minute cooldown, twice per mission usage, ‘heavy’ armor made of paper mache same as the last mech, and will be forgotten in 2 weeks, same as the last mech”. Another huge complaint was the amount of ammo available. This mech features dual autocannons, each equipped with only 75 rounds. CapitalEbb4995 said: “It’s good against bots. Only in the very short term though because it has 150 shots”.
For now, the biggest selling point for this new Exosuit is that it’s free and new to the players. ExploerTM explained: “As long as it’s free. The moment it goes out of rotation it will disappear from the games”. Others agreed wholeheartedly, stating how the EXO-49 Emancipator Exosuit would go into oblivion, just as the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit did.
Players hope that Helldivers 2 devs will bring a potential buff to the new mech in the next patch, which promises better balancing for all the weapons. As of the time of writing this article, there hasn’t been an announcement on when the new patch will arrive and what it consists of. Hopefully, the fans will get their wishes fulfilled. Until then, try and enjoy the EXO-49 Emancipator Exosuit, even though it has some flaws, it’s so fun to use.
