The best patch so far went live on September 17, and although the reactions were extremely positive. However, there were a couple of bugs that needed to be squished. Embracing their newfound approach to fixing the game, Helldivers 2 developers immediately addressed the issues and not long after issued an emergency hotfix so that the players could enjoy the bug-less update.

The Devs Issued a Small Hotfix

If you were too preoccupied with blowing up everything for the current Major Order, you maybe didn’t even notice the strange glitch. Johan Pilestedt, the CCO, addressed it on the morning of September 18. He stated: “Hey everyone. We are aware of the (rather embarrassing) bug with the personal shield generator, where it does not take damage from melee attacks. We are looking at resolving this asap”.

Staying true to his word, and most of all to the players, the hotfix arrived mere hours later. The developers took to Discord to share the news of the fix for SH-32 Shield Generator Pack and the crash fix.

They noted: “Fix for a crash during host migration when a new player joins. Helldivers were accidentally granted the SH-32 Shield Generator Packs from General Brasch´s personal stash. These are reserved for 10-star generals only. The workers at the distribution center have been sent to re-education camps and regular shields will resume distribution”.

Helldivers 2 Players Are Still Under the Impression of the Update

As you may have assumed, Helldivers 2 players were quite tickled by this announcement of a hotfix for the update. Many pointed out that this type of humor was the reason they fell in love with the game in the first place. However, some players were quick to notice that they already had the 10-star general rank.

Pilestedt himself took to Reddit to explain how they made this mistake. He said: “We realized that too late lol. It was intended to be a dumb joke, but we forgot we already made that dumb joke, and now the jokes overlap to be confusing…. which is metadumb. So, in conclusion: you’re welcome”.

Since the update was so good, the players didn’t really mind this snafu, nor the glitch itself. Honestly, we get it. We fully support Arrowhead’s decision to admit the mistakes they’ve made and try to do better. We all make mistakes, but owning up to them and fixing the issues shows true dedication. For Super Earth.
